"The Davinci Code", any basis in fact?

I think that Jesus loved Magdalene, yes.
I reckon that the person at Da Vinci's last supper is Magdalene and not John.

The Oral Tradition that Magdalene got away to Gaulle is posible/probable, and Jesus may not have been crucified, OR was taken down, saved and got away with Pilate's blessing.

So much of religious history and belief seems based on questionable 'facts'. It is disappointing really. The 'nail in the coffin' of fundamentalist Christianity for me was the sad fact that it did not seem to change us; make us better humans. I still hold on to belief in the Creator, but anything beyond that is questionable.

Yep......
Generally speaking, we will believe in something if it can be good for us........ anything! Desperately!

I always felt sure that there was something wrong with Christianity's claims of love, care and charity when I discovered (to my shock and surprise) that no Christian would give up their place in Heaven if it meant that everybody else would be admitted. It is totally 'self-driven', .......... I think there's a thread right there. :)

I don't think that Jesus got executed that day. He may even have been the 'Jesus Son of the Father' who was spared.... he was called Jesus Barabbas in early bibles but the first name got removed.

It's a Tom Brown fiction book, but the romantic in me insists it is true. Should I trust the likely majority of the Christian community which says it is not? Was Jesus likely married?

Pondering and wishing.
In all probability Jesus was married and had children. I quote a verse of Quran:

Arabic
ir
Transliteration
ir
Walaqad arsalna rusulan min qablika wajaAAalna lahum azwajan wathurriyyatan wama kana lirasoolin an ya/tiya bi-ayatin illa bi-ithni Allahi likulli ajalin kitabun
Literal
(Word by Word) And certainly, We sent Messengers before you and We made for them wives and offspring. And not was for a Messenger that he comes with a sign except by the leave (of) Allah. For everything (is) a time prescribed.
Sher Ali
ir
And, indeed, WE sent Messengers before thee, and WE gave them wives and children. And it is not possible for a Messenger to bring a Sign save by the command of ALLAH. For every term there is a divine decree.
ar-Ra`d 13:38

And there are people who claim that they are from the off-spring of Jesus. Right, please?
Just google for "there are people who claim that they are from the off-spring of Jesus".

I quote some here:
The Jesus bloodline is a hypothetical sequence of lineal descendants of the historical Jesus, often by Mary Magdalene, usually portrayed as his wife. Differing and contradictory versions of a Jesus bloodline hypothesis have been proposed in numerous books by authors such as Louis Martin (1886), Donovan Joyce (1973), Andreas Faber-Kaiser (1977), Barbara Thiering (1992), Margaret Starbird (1993), and various websites.

So, obviously as I understand Jesus must have got married, may be he had more than one wife, and did have children. It is not a weird and unusual thing, absolutely not. Right, please?

Dan brown? There is nothing in the bible that suggest that Jesus were married and assume that the most likely candidate would be Mary Magdalene, but it is never mentioned or suggested.

If I were to compile stories into a "holy" book, about a man that is supposed to be worshipped...
And that man happens to be married to a prostitute (or even only ex-prostitute), I'ld leave that out also.

Not that I believe Jesus was married to a prostitute - frankly I couldn't care less.

I'm just saying.... if we assume this was the case, then the above seems a more then reasonable answer for why the bible wouldn't mention it.

No Christian and or a Muslim believes that Jesus married a prostitute. Do the Christian believe so, please?

I wonder why nothing is said in the Bible about the adult private life of Jesus? If he had been gay, or married it might have upset the apple cart so to speak.

See this is the problem with overzealous speculation: on one hand people like you want him to be a gay superstar, yet on the other hand people want him to be married to a prostitute (Mary Magdalene), meaning a very kinky heterosexual marriage.
Was he 'getting it on' with both of them? or are you just puffing smoke?

Because other than what the Gospels state, 'He grew in wisdom and stature', nothing of His life between 12 and 30? is unknown as there would have been no reason for knowing.

There is every reason to know what he had been up to I would have thought.

It doesn't matter at all to the point being made. And the part you quoted me on with emphasis quite explicitly says that as well.

I however understand that Jesus did marry and had children also. There are many people in different parts of the world who claim that they are from the progeny/offspring of Jesus:

Claimants

The following is a list of persons who have publicly claimed to be from a Jesus bloodline, or have had such a claim made about them:

and there are others also.
Jesus might have or sure would have married even more than one wives, after-all David also had many wives. Right, please?
And there is nothing unusual about it. Right, please?

That's nice.

It is all equally irrelevant to the actual point I was making.
Perhaps you should go back a post or 3 to read again what was actually said.
