We gotta stop relying on China to produce literally everything at some point, I guess... I'm sure there are many Christian publishers in the US who would be more than happy to produce Bibles at low cost for the glory of God.

...Right?

I would have thought so. I never imagined China was this invested in Bible publishing. A country that isn't Christian friendly as we learn in the news reports of late is the foremost publisher of Christian literature.

Maybe this is God's way of waking up American publishers. Especially the American based Christian publishing houses.

I wonder if this is perceived as "good news" by all of those of whom you perceive as anti-theists.

Several thoughts:

1) For the people who object to the dissemination of Christian thought, whether it is done with a bible or without would make little difference.

2) Any hindrance for the spread of Christian thought achieved by a trade war are in fact outweighed by other problems resulting from a trade war.

3) Touting problems for Christians caused by certain politics for which many Christians are responsible and suggesting some nefarious group "anti-theists" can rejoice sounds, at least, disingenuous.

4) You do realize this is not an instance of Christian persecution?

It's plain economics. It's not publishing as much as printing. I worked for a small publisher here in Canada, and any print run over 1000 was cheaper in China. Cost of labour, I presume.

There might also be a point to be made that, with the advent of so many free Bible apps and Bibles in e-book format, the demand for printed Bibles may also be much lower, as there are far more cost-effective and quicker ways to get a hold of a Bible. All it takes is a few taps on your smartphone, and you have the whole Bible on your device.

No, it's just economics at work. Christians want to pay the cheapest price they can. Just like the rest of us buy all out junk from China. Guess the're sorta putting a price tag on their religion in a way.

Yeah, well, since I posted this thread in this forum the anti-theists I was referring to would be those who are openly such in this forum.

The problem is "low cost" . If china (or other far eastern manufacturers) didn't/couldn't do it your bibles would be far more expensive...

Glory of god is fine for some but it doesnt pay the wages, overheads, taxes, etc
