Jewish Groups Sick of Concentration Camp Comparisons

WWMRD?
Though the main focus of the article is on comments made by Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez it speaks to a much larger narrative that we have seen over and over again in the media and even on this board, AOC was just another parrot. I wondered how long it would take before for such a self serving, divisive, political attack that played on popular ideas would be called out for what it is, that time is now.

“AOC should ask Holocaust survivors and ex-GIs who liberated Dachau what that charnel House was like,” Rabbi Abraham Cooper, the SWC’s associate dean and director of global social action for the leading international Jewish Human Rights NGO, told JNS. “She is insulting victims of genocide.”

“AOC and others should stop demonizing Trump as a Nazi and instead forge bipartisan fix to disastrous humanitarian situation at our Southern border,” he continued. “Otherwise, all members of Congress will share responsibility for failing to stop the suffering and even deaths.”

Historian Gil Troy told JNS, “There is a long tradition of members of Congress saying dumb things; nevertheless, this comment belongs in the Hall of Fame. It’s not anti-Semitic. It’s too sloppy for that.”He continued, “Anyone who compares the complicated set of tensions both Democrats and Republicans have been forced to make around immigration—as leaders of a complicated democracy—with the evils of Nazi concentration camps is both deeply ignorant and instinctively anti-American, shockingly unaware of the moral difference between democracy and dictatorship, and probably unable to distinguish between the two.”

I agree that they should address the actual problem at hand, and not get so caught up in what someone chooses to call a thing.

The Nazis weren't exactly known for their honest use of language. On its face, "concentration camp" sounds somewhat innocuous. Just like the phrase "special treatment," or using "evacuation" as a euphemism for "extermination."

I'm not even sure if the terminology applies anyway. During WW2, the Japanese-Americans (many of whom were US citizens) were held in what they called "internment camps." This was different since they were being interned solely due to their nationality, regardless of their legal status as citizens. Although they hadn't done anything to deserve such treatment, they were considered "enemy aliens."

But these people are not "enemy aliens," since we're not at war with Guatemala or any other Central American country.

They can shut their mouths because they weren't the first and neither have they've been the last to be thrown into concentration camps.

This describes Trump!

But I do agree there is no comparison between Dachua and the plight of the immigrants.

Maybe I can share with AOC the pictures of a concentration camp my Dad brought back that was liberated by his outfit in the War...

And I would like to offer to educate Yad Vashem about the Great Leap Forward, the Holodomor and the European Conquest of the Americas.

All of which have nothing to do with what the thread is about.

Also what's your point? Are you one of those who are angry at Jews because they care about their dead?

its totally idiotic to think that concentration camp only applies to ones run by the Nazis, the Soviets used concentration camps, so it would seem do the USA.

The term concentration camp was coined by the British in the Boer war. Having real difficulty with defeating the Boers, they decided to round up all their women and children from the Boer farms, and concentrate them in heavily guarded camps, thus demoralizing the men who were in the hills.

Sanitation was poor, food supplies were limited, there was virtually no medical aid, disease broke out and the women and kids began dying in huge numbers.

For the bartender to use this term, since the Boer war, another term for a hell hole to describe what is at our border is the height of ignorance and stupidity. But then, she is the height of ignorance and stupidity.

Now, every Republican is a nazi, a detention facility is a concentration camp, Trump is a traitor, a crime for which he should be executed, everything is juiced to itś maximum ugliness without restraint.

In saul alinskys rules for radicals, control and manipulation of the language to destroy the enemy is right near the top.

Perhaps there is a dumbed down comic book version that was given to the bartender ,increasing her library to 12 books,

You realize that Yad Vashem is built on the ruins of an indigenous Palestinian village who's residents were cruelly massacred by a Zionist militia? Given how the Zionist state has aided and abetted genocides in Rwanda, Sri Lanka and Burma, and not only that but Zionists in Palestine accuse each other of being Nazis at the drop of a hat and frequently describe the smallest troubles as "Shoahs" they really have a nerve attacking her for her admittedly silly piece of hyperbole. Have they no shame?

Given that a third of Jewish survivors of Hitler's camps live below the poverty line in the United States (and the situation for the same demographic living in Palestine is actually far worse) while Jewish organizations and individual spend millions and millions of dollars lobbying on behalf of colonial barbarism and promoting hatred of all Muslims we can pretty sure that they do not care about their dead from the camps of the so-called Third Reich but rather that they find them useful.

Yad Vashem was not built on the ruins of any village whatsoever, much less those of any Palestinian village. “The location of Yad Vashem on the western side of Mount Herzl, an area devoid of weighty historical associations, was chosen to convey a symbolic message of "rebirth" after destruction” Yad Vashem - Wikipedia Of course White Supremacist racists such as David Duke like to say the Yad Vashem was built on a site just 2000 feet from Deir Yasmin. But that doesn’t make it built on the site of that massacre. And, no, the State of Israel (not the “Zionist state” [sic]) doesn’t support genocides in other lands. Actually the Israelis have little to be ashamed of and much to be proud of. But why do you ape and repeat the lies of antiSemites such as David Duke? Have you no shame?
