But don't call them concentration camps

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
"The Trump administration went to court this week to argue that migrant children detained at the United States-Mexico border do not require basic hygiene products like soap and toothbrushes in order to be in held in "safe and sanitary" conditions. Trump's team also argued that requiring minors to sleep on cold concrete floors in crowded cells with low temperatures similarly fulfilled that requirement." Trump administration argues in court that detained migrant children don't need toothbrushes or soap and they can sleep on concrete floors

I keenly await the arrival of the resident Trumpettes and Usual Suspects to explain how questioning unnecessary, blatant cruelty to children means you support "open borders" or "hate America".

Wonder if Jewish groups are getting tired of the ongoing narrative that the current political situation is similar to Nazi Germany, it isn't regardless of how badly some want and need it to be.

So, your argument is that until things are as bad for people as Nazi Germany was for the Jews no one has anything to complain about, right? That's what you're implying.

Children sleeping on concrete floors in any instance - without even a way to provide or find better sleeping conditions for themselves - sure sounds like a situation that should be fixed. I assume it doesn't to you?

Too bad that isn’t what the administration argument was. The administration argued that a previous precedent did not specify what needed to be provided to the detainees, not that detainees shouldn’t be provided with them. Just a straw man attempt.

Checking dictionary definitions, we could indeed call them "concentration camps".
But then, our prisons also fit the definitions. So it seems that even Trump's most
fervent opponents among liberals also favor the existence & use of concentration
camps. Every country, even the most liberal Scandinavian countries do.
What else can be done with people whose movement must be restricted?

The system is overwhelmed, if you have a bucket that holds one gallon of water and the water is running constantly at the rate of five gallons an hour and you have two people that can only take away two an hour what happens?
And we have some democrats that want to defund the entire thing

Beside, you can always invite them to your house.

I'm pretty sure they are provided soap and toothbrushes unless there is a shortage due to an overwhelmed system.

Do you find it ok that children are taken away from parentes? And put in camps?
Just as okay as the manner by which parents willingly use their children as tools of leverage to cross the border illegally and the reckless danger they put them in by traveling here in the first place with unscrupulous people.

Of course they are. The Socialists just want to paint a pretty picture for themselves so people will think they're the moral high horse here and champions of illegals.

This is a distraction from the real problem - someone is taking their liberties away. Their liberty to go and find their own place to sleep, for example. That person isn't me. I am not responsible for these people's suffering. I wouldn't be found to be responsible. I don't work that way. The people who do take actions like these are responsible, and they are the ones who need to rectify the situation. They are the ones who took liberty and freedom away from children.

Screw inviting them. That's like doing an application and awaiting approval .

Just tell him to go over there, break a window, and just jump on their couch and expect to be fed, clothed, and medically attended to all for free.

Socialist liberals would love that. I know none of them* would ever object to having somebody walking into their house uninvited. They can just tell her other family members the buzz off while they take care of them because they are so far worse off .

Stellar proposal!!

*Only because they would never stoop so low as to where they couldn't conceivably put their money where their mouth is. After all social Democrats are the bastions of sanctuary and refuge.

Their parent(s) brought them here, no one is taking anything, away they created a situation themselves and this is the result.

It's like the sanctuary cities when they were going to release them there, they all of a sudden didn't want them and considered it a punishment. Basically "we want the illegal immigrants....as long as they live somewhere else - there goes the neighbourhood!"

Why make that argument unless you're not wanting to provide them? The judges certainly don't seem to think it was a strawman.

I have an idea- according to what supplies and acceptable housing we do have only accommodate that many and send the rest back over the border. Funny thing is that Mexican authorities can't support all of them either and locals are angry.
