Why do atheist believe something can come from nothing?

Atheists basically follow science concerning the nature of our physical existence

While in general / in practice, it is probably a safe bet that your average atheist will simply go where the science leads them concerning such subjects, I'ld just like to point out that there is nothing in "atheism" that leads to such conclusion.

It's perfectly possible to be an atheist and believe science is a bunch of quackery, for example.
Atheism isn't dependend on science. Nore is science dependend on atheism.

Don't confuse "beliefs" with scientific models of reality though.

Also, what people like Krauss mean by "nothing" in such a context, is pretty different from what theologians mean by "nothing", both or wich are also pretty different from what we lay-people mean by "nothing" in day-to-day conversation. For example, when I say "this box is empty, there is nothing in this box" - "nothing" means something very very different from the term in context of theology, philosophy, physics,....

Usually when people ask me "do you believe X about 'nothing'", I'll first ask them to clarify what they mean exactly by "nothing".

Atheists basically follow science concerning the nature of our physical existence, therefore almost all scientists regardless of religious belief and atheists do not believe our physical existence came from 'absolute nothing' regardless of whether there is only one universe of an infinite number of universes.

It is basically 'some' theists that believe the our physical existence was Created from 'absolute nothing.' Some scientist have describe the 'Quantum World' as the nothing that universes originate from, but this is not the 'philosophical absolute nothing' of theist views.

If anything the atheists as well as many if not most scientists believe the physical existence is most likely eternal and did not come from anything.

The video is udder nonsense.

Wait! Atheists believe Hitler was a Christian, not an Atheist!

Atheists also believe they are not religious, and so use a small initial, like this: atheist

"atheist" is a small word, so why do an OP on something so small?

atheists aren't religious, they're here at RF to learn, not bash, so please stop bashing this small, minority, fringe, persecuted, unempowered group!

It is evidence, fwiw, you can hang any label on it. Atheism was abnormal in humanity, still is, no matter what atheism claims.

"atheism was abnormal"? Well.... using your ... ahem... "definition" of "abnormal"?

The exact same can be said for flat earthers-- round earth belief is 'abnormal', because flat earth came before round earth belief, and most people were quite sure the earth was flat. Just like the bible describes, in fact.

If you go far enough into the past? No humans believed in any gods-- that's a fact you can take to the bank, and cash. This is because those primitive creatures lacked the mental capacity to even visualize "god" or "creator" or any of that hokum.

Do dogs, cats or squirrels worship gods? Was there ever a Dog Jesus? A Squirrel Savior? Why or why not?

What do you have against squirrels, anyway?

Did i say only passion??? I have never known a preacher who is not passionate about what they say... Even if some of them score a D for thinking
That deep emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God.

Lol, I've heard serious scientists think that we live in a hologram reality...

Alright high-and-mighty, give us dumb people one single shred of evidence for your 'no god' theory. Aside from a hypothesis that you like, what is your evidence?

So very sorry-- but you have it exactly backwards there, mate.

We do not have a "no god theory". We simply reject the simplistic claim that a "magic super-being made everything".

For a complete and total lack of anything remotely convincing. It's as simple as that.

"Well, then Mr Atheist-- what DID create everything?"

"I have no clue. Why invent Magic to cover a simple 'unknown'? The inclusion of magical things isn't helping."

Interesting that you think that doesn't matter since many here think Trump's comments about the Central Park 5 in 1989 is still relevant...as do I.

No matter. It's your choice to disbelieve that Dawkins remains the same 7 years later. In fact, he's been awful quiet lately. Probably spending his money. LOL
