Trump tweets that millions will be deported starting next week

If illegal immigrants are here and don't have above-the-table jobs, or are homeless, or living on welfare, then they should be deported. If illegal immigrants commit a crime, then they should be arrested and then deported.

But if they have above-the-table jobs, contribute to Social Security, pay income tax, are renting their own apartments or own their own homes, and have a clean criminal record, then these illegal immigrants should be depo--oh, look, a female red cardinal, how pretty... ...Erm, where were we again? You people are free to go, everything looks good, have a nice day.

I guess they were left out of the loop. Perhaps it's some "secret plan" that only Trump knows about.

Trump has claimed he has made America 'great' again, his crazy antics have made it the laughingstock of the planet!

My great grandparents showed up here without permission or papers or anything.
They got checked for TB and handed documents.
They were Irish Catholic and not particularly welcomed by the nationalist(Protestant) majority. They had little but the clothes on their backs. They were fleeing the ugliness that was Ireland in the late 19th century.

What is especially different about 21st century Hispanics? Because I'm not seeing it. Why not just give them papers the way we did back when America Was Great?

That's a better way to make America Great Again than starting a war with Iran and ramping up corporate welfare.

Illegal migrants contributing to social security have obtained fraudulent social security numbers... their criminal record isn't clean.

And I'll remind you: being an illegal migrant is all by itself a crime, both civil and criminal.

Whether the government presses charges or not, ALL illegal migrants are deportable.

Back then, we had open frontiers out west that immigrants could flow out to. There was plenty of room to expand, and we needed all the help we could get. I don't care what skills or lack thereof you had in the Old Country, there was something you could do that would have been of use in 1800's America. 21st-century America is completely different--we have no more frontiers, we're starting to stagnate, we already have many communities that are struggling due to a reducing number of jobs or a lack of jobs altogether, and we need certain people with certain skill sets for certain jobs that we currently have available. We can't afford to take on anybody and everybody anymore, because the needs of the American economy have changed a lot, and we're starting to run out of room and infrastructure to handle more people. We already have a lot of communities that are hurting. We can't afford to make the problem worse by taking on millions of economic migrants (read: not refugees) from Central and South America. We can take in genuine refugees who actually meet the qualifications for refugee and asylum status under international law, but we don't have room or time for millions of economic migrants who just want a nicer house or a better job or who, and I quote, "miss Buffalo Wild Wings".

It's an interesting week. A possible war with Iran, Trump's birthday and the launching of his re-election campaign - and an upcoming roundup.

doesn't have the manpower to get it done. We can't even control the current flow, which is far less than "millions". What's he gonna do....pull all the agents from the borders? Besides, If you are going to start showing up at people's door, you don't start by first making banner headlines that say "we're coming for you"
