Noah in the bible and Quran.

Hello everyone, and salaam alaikum,
There is one question that keeps cropping up in my mind and it is of Noah/Nuh both in Bible and Quran. The question is,how could He have gathered two of each species (male and female) when one considers the sheer number of species and diversity of habitat? All animals and birds? What about insects? If the answer to this is that we don`t take it too literally then does that mean we can pick and choose? Surely we cannot pick and choose if especially in case of Quran which is the word of God(swt) as revealed to Mohammed(saw). Is it about interpretation?
Thankyou all in advance,
Joseph

Probably he couldn't have. Given the dimensions of the ark in the Bible, there just wouldn't have been enough space to squeeze every kind of animal in the globe into that boat.

Forget about Noah in the Bible and the Quran. They are both copies of the much older Epic of Gilgamesh. No, the story is not literal.
There is an older source of the flood story found in the Sumerian creation myths.

When the tablet resumes it is describing the flood. A terrible storm rocks the huge boat for seven days and seven nights, then Utu (the Sun god) appears and Zi-ud-sura creates an opening in the boat, prostrates himself, and sacrifices oxen and sheep.

After another break the text resumes: the flood is apparently over, the animals disembark and Zi-ud-sura prostrates himself before An (sky-god) and Enlil (chief of the gods), who give him eternal life and take him to dwell in Dilmun for "preserving the animals and the seed of mankind". The remainder of the poem is lost.[3]

Yup.

Many people back then were nomads. Their stories traveled with them and spread from region to region. It is no surprise that different cultures and/or geographic locations have similar stories shared from around the world.

Nomads had a symbiotic relationship with a town/oasis on their travels.. They had to in order to survive. The notion that they were all bedu is nonsense.

The ark would have had an area of about 2.2 miles squared (3.6 kilometers squared)—about the size of one and a half football fields—with walls 20 feet high.

The aspect of the description that most stunned Finkel, however, is that the ark was round. He said: “To my knowledge, no one has ever thought of that possibility.”

Finkel told the Associated Press that the tablet is “one of the most important human documents ever discovered.”

Does one mean the following:

[11:41]
Till, when Our command came and the fountains of the earth gushed forth, We said, ‘Embark therein two of every* kind, male and female, and thy family, except those against whom the word has already gone forth, and those who believe.’ And there did not believe and live with him except a few.

Its a myth based on a 4 day river flood . Noah was a king of Sumer who hauled grain, livestock and beer down river on barges to sell.

If you look at explanatory note 1424 from the next page it says that Noah was in a valley surrounded by mountains, yet Noah and His family couldn’t save themselves just by walking up the mountains. Instead they had to spend all that time building a boat.

So which is it, a flood that covered the mountains (in which Noah’s son could not have survived by walking up the mountain) or a flood contained by the mountains (in which case Noah’s son could have climbed a nearby mountain)?

'Tis a puzzlement that is solved by ignoring it. It's the right of every Christian to ignore any difficult piece of scripture and simply move on, or so it appears. Once in a great while a brave Christian will stick their neck out and present what they believe to be a rational explanation, but after a few exchanges they too will go silent.
