Are there as many millionaires as there are people on benefits?

A millionaire has one vote just the same as someone on benefits.

Blair stayed in power by appealing to the middle. It is the only way under a first past the post system.
It is what both the left and right have to do. There are insufficient of either to vote in to power a government on their own.

The Left have a reliable voter base, bought and paid for.

Add to that all the administration jobs for their big government.

Times have changed over the last twenty or so years, no party has the luxury of a large loyal memberships now. Certainly not enough to make any thing certain anywhere.

There are not enough Admin jobs in government to make any difference. Civil service jobs and have beeen shrinking for years as have council jobs.
Such post holders are far from one party supporters.

Labour has because many of its supporters are bloc voters.

There is much waste in local government and the NHS. If this were addressed, there would be a serious loss of jobs.

This is not acceptable to the Left.

And the block voting system was only used at their own party conferences.
There is no way it can be used in elections.

You clearly do not know what a block vote is.
There are two forms
The one used in parliamentary elections is no longer used as we no longer have multiple seat constituency elections https://www.electoral-reform.org.uk...voting-system/first-past-the-post/block-vote/
However it was not limited to any particular party.

The second sort of Block vote was used for leadership elections but was abolished 20 years ago, but is still used in some conference voting by Delegates who represent unions and vote on their behalf (blocks of votes) ( sometimes this is voted in proportion to the votes cast in the local branches, rather than winner takes all.)
