Atheists, Humanists - a verse for you!!

The eternal Tao cannot be told - Tao Te Ching
Romans 2:9-16

There will be anguish and distress for everyone who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also Greek. For God shows no partiality. All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not for the hearers of the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but the doers of the law but doers of the law who will be justified. When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law to themselves. They show that the law is written in their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them on the day when, according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all. NRSV

Takaway: Everyone will be judged by their own values.

Why the threats.
"If you don't do as I say; this will happen to you"

When will you understand, WE DO NOT BELIEVE IN GODS, they are man made inventions. The Bible was written by primitive humans, quoting from it impresses me as much as if I quoted Richard Dawkins at you.

this technique is frequently employed by adherents to abrahamitic religions. i mean, showing others an artificial compassion in order to assert (in their view) their universalism and therefore their domain upon you and your being. it's a kind of "eteroreferentiality" which actually shows an unbridgeable individual void and the desperate desire of revenge of the inepts and the oppressed. sometimes it onsets as the machination of the idea of "false god", sometimes as plain jesuitic proselytism.
but , as paul witnesses, the greeks laughed at him in the agorà. and laughing is the only possible answer to this abrahamitic "compassion" and "impartiality".

So you think atheist and humanist are evil?

Perhaps more evil than the accuser who issues worthless threats to appease himself?

It Aint Necessarily So

Romans 2:9-16 "There will be anguish and distress [snip] ..." Takeaway: Everyone will be judged by their own values.

Why did you think this would be of interest to atheists or humanists? Since the Christian Bible isn't authoritative to the skeptic, he has no reason to believe its claims or take its advice. Specifically, he has no reason to believe the Christian claim that he will be judged after death.

You missed the point, I have just given you ammunition to use in a fight. The Evagelical Atheist just annoys me.

No, No, No.

The people accused of "being a law unto themselves" are judged according to their own conscience.

Everyone will be judged based on their character, not their club membership. But it is still Paul's God who is going to do the judging.

What if Paul believed in a God of Evolution and judgment simply meant ones own value-moral assessment of ones life at its end which was dictated not by a card-carrying God but the amoral whim of chance and the individuals propensity to survive any given circumstance?

God can judge people two ways.

One is by his own standards and all fall short of that

The other is by their own standards and even by people's own standards for others they fall short

( And yes conscience is key and for some conscience gets really hardened )

Very odd. What if? . . . is meaningless.

. . . besides conflating and misrepresenting science. Shotgun logic?!?!?!

"The evangelical atheist" spot on!! Haha...yea but what version southern baptist?

I picked a poets quote on this topic since poets work can co-equally be read in a variety of ways as well. He also said religion is very atheistic. I am pretty sure that goes whoosh through the cranium like a nutrino through the earth for most people.....
