Do these passages look like they point to life after death?I am talking from a jw point of view.So i want to hear from christians as well as jws on this one.

In 2 Corinthians 5:6-10 it says that as long as we are in our bodies we are away from the lord. But it also says in verse 9 some people are already away from their bodies and currently with the lord.Am i reading this right?Yes or no?

Need more context.

5 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

The earthly house of this tabernacle refers to our mortal bodies. And if our earthly mortal bodies be dissolved, we have a tabernacle of God, an immortal body, raised by the Spirit, and eternal in the heavens.

2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: 3 If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

The Christian desires to be clothed with the immortal body rather than the nakedness of the sinful flesh.

4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

When the mortal body is raised it will be clothed upon with immortal flesh.

5 Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

While we live in the mortal body we are away from the Lord. When we are clothed upon by the immortal body we will be with the Lord.

9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

I am confused. You say you are a Methodist, but seem to obsess about the JW. Are you lying and being devious? I don't know much about the JW, but have had enough contact with their ideas that I am not interested. Should I put you on Ignore or do you really have something to say?

Yes, I think you have understood correctly. Some people have died and are with Lord and some are still here.

Who are the "some" who have died and are with the Lord?

I can think of Enoch, Elijah, Moses and those who were raised after Jesus' resurrection. Matt 27:52-53

I go back and forth between believing in the idea of the soul ceasing to exist at death and the other way around. And that is why i am so interested in the Jw religion and being Methodist. This was for Ellen Brown.

The some are in 2 Corinthians 5:9.

Look at the two following passages:

2 Cor 5: 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Paul does not say that he would be immediately present with the Lord.

1 Thes. 2:19 For what is our hope or joy or crown of rejoicing Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming"

To be present with the Lord comes when he comes and raises the dead.

What about verses 9 and 10?You made a footnote for every bible verse.Except verses 9 and 10.

We are present with the Lord when he comes and raises the dead. We are absent from the Lord while we are dead.
When a believer in covenant with God is raised from the dead they will either be raised immortal with an immortal body OR raised in shame and everlasting contempt (a mortal body) according to how they lived while in the mortal body.
