types of religions

Marcion

gopa of humanity's controversial Taraka Brahma
Matthew 7:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Not my opinion, from the Bible :)

Those are in fact words of Jesus copied by the author of gMatthew into his own gospel story.
The "narrow gate" does not refer to the Christian religion but to the retraction of one's individual consciousness by thoroughly implementing in one's life the spiritual cult that Jesus taught.

Jesus never told anyone that it was only he who taught such a cult. In fact his teachings (unlike the Christian ones) are very universal.

3. pagan (non abrahamic)

in my opinion :)

Religion in general, including abrahamic religions, can easily be broken down into cults. Christianity comprises of around 50,000 such cults, each interpreting different versions of the bible in different ways.
IsIam does the same with somewhere around 500 cults and Judaism has 4 branches with many different views within those branches. I am reluctant to call them cults because last time i made the suggestion i was hit with a sh**t storm of outraged jewish comment.

How did we get that?

This is what Jesus said about the narrow gate [not personal interpretation but from the Bible]

John 10:7-9 New International Version (NIV)
Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.

It is clear that Jesus is the that gate for the sheep. If one is not a sheep, he is a goat. Again there are 2 kinds of religion like the sheep and the goat.

Matthew 25:32-33 New International Version (NIV)
All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

The Bible say we are either sheep or goats.

Those are not the words of Jesus that you quoted but those are the words of Christians put into the mouth of their Jesus Christ.
They do not explain the meaning of the original saying of Jesus.
The Bible does not say anything, it reflects many Jews and many types of Christians trying to have their own say.

So Jesus Christ was mute.
Did not say anything?
And the Christians wrote those words for him?
They are a bunch of geniuses
Fooled two millenniums of Christians
They must have been imaginative than William Shakespeare or Agatha Christie
Considering arts and literature were privileged activities during those times.
Totally off the charts

There are only two kinds of religion -
Christ's and anti Christ's
Believers and unbelievers
God's and not God's

Yes, Jesus was mute in the last two quotes you produced (not in the first one, although it was copied).

Which goes to show how necessary it is to complement the Bible with honest discernment.

Wow there are fundamentalist warriors?
Heretics?
I think these terminologies were used during the Dark Ages.
A more spaced out version would be in Hollywood like those made by George Lucas.

My Jesus spoke, read from a book.
He did miracles for people to believe
He died and was raised from the dead
He lives and he is up in heaven

He will return and separate those who are not his from those who are his.
My Jesus said this, maybe not your Jesus - you see we have different Jesuses 2 Corinthians 11:4
This statement is not from me but from what I have read written in the Bible:

Matthew 25:31-46 New International Version (NIV)
“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

So basically, there are two religions - one for the sheep and the other for the goats.
It is going to be real hot to be a goat.

if you check the religion of each member in this forum you will get uncountable number of religions that amaze me compared to Abrahamic religions of limited No. This tells us about the delusion of so many humans believing in these cults and creeds lacking one supportive evidence.

IMHO, there are three kinds of religions:
1. Religions with their propounders who claimed divine mandate: Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Bahai, Ahmadiyyas, etc.
2. Religions whose propounders did not claim divine mandate: Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, etc.
3. Religions which do not have propounders: Shinto, Hinduism, Dao, and all other native religions.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
I am all for creating new forms of religion. If Religion's prime motive is to help others there should be institutions that do those very things.

Unfortunately many religions claim exceptionalism over universal values. By exceptionalism I mean they consider others who do not subscribe to their religion to be heathens to mark and reject.

Humans can Do religion better today then they everso did in the past if they desired to.

For me religion is principles that one rely's on to get themselves through life in a good way. Religion is about matters of heart moreso than mental criticisms and philosophies.

Yep, you're right, still stuck in the Dark Ages. ;)

Sheep and goats are still viable commercially.

The Bible compares two people as sheep and goats.
One is holy and the other one unholy
One is of God and the other one is of the devil

I disagree. There are two types:

Magic-based
Nature based

All of the major religions began as cults. A cult means the founder is alive and active and the future religion is not large enough to deserve recognition.

I don't deny that Christianity has enormous sectarianism but realistically it's more like thousands of tiny variants on 10 different views (at the most) which sprout from three different ideas but which root from answers to the implications to whether or not Jesus actually claimed deity or not. If he did, that opens a bunch of potential theological positions, if he didn't then that opens a different bunch of potential theological positions - all of which constitute the most defining positions of which your "50,000 such cults" sprout from (being 10 different views at best).

Islam has only two different worldviews that are deeply connected to it's origins and deeply effect the three only interpretations of the religion (Sunni, Shi'ite and Khaqarij), between those three anything that arises is either additions created later on in history (routed in one of those three) or just inconsequential variation when taken as a whole.

Judaism itself has only really three positions, as well.

Three seems to be a reoccurring number here....
However also, the "splits" within each of the three Abrahamic religions are actually all for completely different reasons. Christianity "splits" for incomparable reasons to Judaism, and both Judaism and Christianity "split" for reasons that originate from a category foreign entirely to the nature of Islam's "splits".

As for "Cults" there are several different historical meanings for that word, even though it's most commonly used in a disparaging manner.

Yep, I agree with that. Although Daoism/Taoism is more elusive and kinda both fits into 2 and 3, for a lot of historical reasons. Oh and Sikhism actually fits into 1 for clear reasons, even though it' kind of a syncretism.

I make my categorization a bit differently, beginning with:

Worshipers
Non-worshipers

This, imo, is the biggest divisive factor in religions.

Your mileage may vary.

Guru Nanak did not claim to be a messenger 'Ik Onkar'. All he said was from his side and from the side of Hindu and Muslim sages of his time, like Kabir, Sheikh Farid, Namdev, Ravidas, Kalshar Bhatt, etc.

Honestly, it sounds to me like what you're really saying is that there are two types of religions -- the one you believe in and the one you don't. And how do you define a "cult" to distinguish it from other religions?
Yes, this. Abrahamics are the only religions that call other religions as fakes. So I seperate them from pagan.

A cult is a crazy talk religion.
