What if the asteroid, and it's moon did hit the earth? How bad would the devestation be?

You can watch these videos as comparison, its the effect of a 17 meter large meteor exploding in Russia, then you can scale that up (a lot) and imagine what it would be like :D

What do you mean its free?

As far as I know, we have no system in place to actually divert them and not really any good way of detecting them either that is considered particular effective. If I understood it correct, we (humans) are basically "gambling" here that we are lucky to detect or notice any large one coming our way with enough time to build something that can divert them, which I think is the easy part. The hard one is to detect them before its to late.

Let's see.

"During the approach of May 25, 2019, the asteroid will pass at the very safe distance of 3,219,955 miles from Earth (5,182,015 km),
or about 13.5 times the Earth-moon distance."

It could happen multiple times.

You believe if you save a life it's like you've saved a world right?

Well, what then if you save the world?
Seems like saving one life would be a lot cheaper. Since they're equivalent, it's probably the more economic choice here.
