Look within or look in to the universe?

When human beings looking for answer to the big questions in life, what are we, where do we come from, why are we here. is there a god, or is there spiritual beings we do not see.
Why do we suffer, or why are we feeling so happy when we realise something spiritual?
But where do most people look? They look out into the wast space we call universe, beause that is where the answer supposed to be. But is it really?
The spiritual path is telling us to look within our self, and stop looking out there. So why do so many look for a God or a almighty being in the universe? Probably there is no God sitting on a cloud and looking down at us, judging us.
What we could do is look within our self and ask the questions inward. Who am I? What am I doing here and so on.
Can we find something within that give us the answers? Yes we will find spiritual wisdom that make us understand the world around us

As a Buddhist i asked my self over and over again, who am i? and every time i get the answer LET GO OF THE SELF/EGO (I AM) And you will realise that the body is not the self. it is only a manifistation of what we think we are. In meditation where the letting go of self/ego actually happen more easy, one can experience that the outside world disapear with all its sounds, smells, touches and so on. And the mind exist no longer within the boundaries of the body. And thoughts no longer arise, that is where the beginning of true silence show it self to a meditator.
So when someone say the physical world is the only truth, even i can not show it to them, it would be possible to give them the experience within meditation.

So there is something within you and I that is not there on the outside of oneself? Is this something an Entity that makes one do things?

If you talking about a permanent soul, then no in my understanding there is nothing permanent, but in our physical world there is a Skandhas (gross self) but body is not permanent either.

So again in my understanding everything that exist either in form or in no form is not of permanence.
The use of the words "within" is a way of speaking to say "experience of spiritually "
What many see as self (body) will experience certain things during a lifetime, but from one moment to the next, the observed arise and disapear. So no permanent :)

The mind is not permanent, that is for sure because it disappears when we die. however while we are alive it makes us do things out of analysis and convictions and beliefs.:)

In my understanding the mind does not die when the body dies, But it transform to a new consiousness. So in between life times (rebirths) the consiousness is there, but when it enter a new body we can not remember it. But if i have understtood it correct even the consiousness is not the same from moment to moment :) So when we are reborn in to physical body again it is not like become who we are now :)

Consciousness makes us do things then?

I like that, but what is my best reason for letting go of the self?

In meditation where the letting go of self/ego actually happen more easy, one can experience that the outside world disapear with all its sounds, smells, touches and so on.
Is meditation a form of work? Why should I do it when I can eat and watch TV instead.

And the mind exist no longer within the boundaries of the body. And thoughts no longer arise, that is where the beginning of true silence show it self to a meditator.
That is cool, but is this the reward for meditation?

So when someone say the physical world is the only truth, even i can not show it to them, it would be possible to give them the experience within meditation.
I understand what you are saying, but I do not trust this. What is the goal?

Meditation is not work. it is a technique for letting go of attachment to the human Ego and other attachments like, Greed, anger, hate, delution and so on.
To a serious meditator the entertainent of TV or Shows are not important, but the meditation is important for calming the mind and be able to live in the moment (so one can understand what attachments that would need to be let go of)

The "Reward" is a perfect silent mind. with no unnesessary thoughts.

For me as a buddhist the "goal" is to be free from samsara (rebirth cycle) But meditation can be a way to freedom from unwholsome thoughts, action or speech too.

Is Consciousness the same for every living being?
In my understanding, No because we will be on different level of wisdom (understanding of the reality/Truth) But this is a part that i looking in to this days, so maybe i can give a deeper answer soon.
I do not have answer to everything within life/ Consiousness:)

Is it not possible that the mind takes inputs from the body (ego/self) and from Consciousness as a distinct Entity that pervades the universe and upon combining the two sources of inputs the mind analyses situations and takes the appropriate actions in life?

Did you just describe a human being in physical form?

But as spiritual being the body is not needed :) Only in this hysical realm it is needed to have a body. And the physical realm is not the "goal" :)

Yes I described a human being in physical form. Sorry I can only deal with reality as I see it and not as imagined.:)

It's the same thing except that you can do one with your eyes closed.
