Does Anyone understand the Cloud?

For me it comes down to how important your stuff is and whether you will actually take the time to back it up to another physical drive. Cloud storage makes it easy(ier) and it gets done. Much better than I do it manually.

Online solutions are probably secure, but since they are public your data could potentially be accessed. There is great security in obscurity, so I suspect that no one is going to read your personal stuff and then use it against you. There are many security technologies that should be in place including Data Loss Prevention that can detect Personally Identifiable Information and block it from inappropriate access. Still one can avoid putting account numbers and passwords into any unencrypted documents that are in the cloud to be safer.

Thing I like about the cloud is that it's free storage.

Microsoft made it difficult to set up a Windows 10 machine without a Microsoft account. But it's possible as the link I'll provide below shows. But warning, unless you know what you are doing and are careful you could render your machine unusable and have to start over. Specifically, you need to create a local account, make sure it works, copy everything you need over to it and only then delete the Microsoft account.

The cloud's great -- till the next format comes along. Then it'll go the way of the punch card or 8-track. All your data will be lost.
Of course, it's Also on display for any police, political or government agency that might take an interest in you.

I did try to draga and drop that symbol (the cloud) from the task bar to the waste can

it won't go

if ever it does.....will everything else still work?
