I have a problem with my cousin

RabbiO

הרב יונה בן זכריה
My cousin jonathan (23 male) wants to develop telekinesis to strip girls naked just by thinking about it.He says in his defence it doesn't say in the bible that developing telekinesis is wrong. How do i show my cousin that developing psychic powers is wrong? What in the bible would snap him out of it?
I wouldn't worry about it because -
1) It doesn't appear to be an activity with a high success rate. When was the last time you saw a news story about clothes magically being stripped off any women?
2) Based on another of your posts you'll probably forget about the whole thing in a day or two.

Might as well be wishing to become a dragon. :D

Anyway, while there are some "psychic" (silly word) types of abilities or powers, telekinesis isn't one of them, that exists, anyway. If you have them, or have developed them I'd say The Bible doesn't even address the subject. It forbids divination, speaking with the dead, and any number of acts (sorcery, ritual work) but doesn't really address born-in abilities like telepathy, energy work, etc... So, biblically, psychic powers are basically ignored -- there is nothing in the actual bible that prohibits their use. You're not going to find in there what doesn't exist. :D

I think demons can give people psychic powers.Because of Acts 16:16-18.So what ever power you look to develop.Be it divination or telekinesis.I think demons can do it.

People think all kinds of things.
And there are those always ready to take
full advantage.

I think that the basic idea is that your cousin lacks empathy and is doing onto others what he would not want done to him. There is always Matthew's Sermon on the Mount where Jesus says:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Matthew 5:27-28

Your cousin wants to find a legalism to get around a rule and not deal with the problem of empathy. Perhaps he is over sexed and needs to be taught a way to safely fulfill his God-given sexual instinct without having to have unsafe or non-consensual sex. Or perhaps he is just rebelling against what he perceives as a ridiculous moral authority and is saying something outrageous to get attention. He may be insecure about sex and relationships and needs some emotional support that he can accept.

I do not know of anything that says developing psychic powers would be wrong. The real problem is the existence of those powers and the lack of evidence for them.

If these existed and could be practiced into possession, teenage boys would have long since denuded the entire female population. Given that event is not known to have ever occurred, I think you can rest easy in laughing at your cousins silly idea.

You may suggest that he just find a girl he likes, do not tell her about the psychic powers thing, and ask her out. Maybe over time, and no weirdness, he may find that he does not need psychic powers and that mature, honest behavior may be a way to get one woman to pop out of her clothes by consent rather than victimization.
