A Question Of Propriety, Or Not

The annual naked bike ride is coming up in your city (It is in mine, which brought the following question to mind) and your spouse intends on participating, but you do not; however, your 17 and 18 year old daughters want to join the ride.

Posted to show that teens do participate

What do you say to them?

(Just as an FYI. According to news reports of previous rides the event is well organized and the participants monitored by police along the route and at its beginning and end. As far as I know there have been no incidents of any inappropriate behavior.)

You can remind them that random strangers will be taking pictures and videos that will immediately be posted online, where they will remain stored in the cloud, a.k.a. someone else's computer, and that might turn against them one day. If that doesn't work, send them to the gym until they have fabulous fit bodies. At least they'll look good.

Good thought.

This one has always puzzled me, just because riding a bicycle naked is not a particularly easy, safe, or enjoyable thing to do.

Then I guess it's a matter of liking to do not particularly easy, safe, or enjoyable things. OR . . . maybe they find it quite easy, safe, and enjoyable, which seems more likely.

If she is 18, there is not much you can do, but try to persuade her, if you do not want her to participate. If she is underage, is her participation even legal? Wouldn't anyone taking and posting pictures of a naked 17 year old be guilty of creating, storing and disseminating child pornography?

I would opt to participate myself, which would cause the organizers to reconsider and cancel the event.

Same here. I vowed I would one day have a body like Thor. I have achieved that goal. :D

Interesting question, and in looking around there doesn't seem to be any legal age restrictions. In fact, one naked bike ride advertised, "All ages welcome."

Wouldn't anyone taking and posting pictures of a naked 17 year old be guilty of creating, storing and disseminating child pornography?
I suppose it would if pictures of naked underage (<18 or whatever) were by default pornographic, but they're not.
