I'm doing this Ask Me Anything thread because I kind of wanted to make an impression while I can, in case I lose interest later and kind of just lurk - not because I disagree with anything, but because I can be a pretty indifferent introvert sometimes and don't always have things to add that I feel the OPs of other threads cannot do without. Okay so if you've seen my introduction thread... I like Star Wars and I'm kind of a Theist who believes in God and accepts the idea of Universalism, yet is skeptical of many parts of the Bible (at least as they are interpreted). Some more points:

-My favorite Star Wars character is Kylo Ren. He just seems to express the emotions of a Dark Sided person a bit more naturally than I feel Hayden/Darth Vader ever did. That emotional trouble.

-I'm a gamer and I believe that video game graphics face diminishing returns. I perceive that in the past, new video game systems showed much more improvement in graphics quality going forward over the space of 4-7 years, than they do now.

-I get along best with progressive people. My family on both sides had a lot of conservatives / farm and ranch type people, and eating fried chicken at a Picnic while discussing ranches and horses, never did it for me.

-I do have some narcissistic traits that I hope to eventually overcome. I have in the past enjoyed the view that "The only thing we can prove exists is ourselves", so I begin a lot of sentences with "I" instead of being chancy and trying to guess and start a lot of sentences with "You" trying to bring things to what the other side is thinking. This drives some people crazy. I guess deep down I would do best around a person in which we both say "I" a lot and describe ourselves and so that the other side doesn't have to make guesses and say "You".

-I'm self-aware that when speaking on religion, I sometimes bring feelings and emotions into my stances in this regard: One of the deciding factors for me not being an overly conservative Christian, is I have witnessed the behavior of some leaders who proclaim themselves so, how they kind of wanted to up their status at the expense of others, etc.

-I consider it important, at the moment, to be in tune with myself and nature. I'm open to the idea that there is a spiritual side of good spirits and bad spirits not talked about in the Bible.

-I feel in my heart God is good and all-powerful, pretty much like what the Bible says. This holding onto this idea causes me to reject many doctrines related to the same God I worship.

DC.

I actually haven't seen the parody space-balls. If they could make fun of the original Star Wars trilogy though, imagine what they could do for the prequels (assuming they haven't already).

I thought I was in love a couple of times. But I picked the worst people for me. We never really touched souls. In fact, these women had dreams of say, me working on a ranch and sporting a cowboy hat, when I talked to them deeply. Which goes back to my same problems at family picnics. In regards to people in general, when I was 20, I did come across a couple of people I really clicked with, with similar ideas, but it's pretty rare.

What's an "Atheistic Theist"?

Jeff Turner wrote a book touching on subjects few people do and gave it that name. I agreed with the summary, so it's kind of a Tentative title I give the beliefs I described in the OP until I read the book and can confirm 100%.

Seems to me You are a person who puts others first before yourself? Am I wrong?

Kind of. For example say I have a friendship. A truly selfless person would keep it if it meant something to the other individual, regardless of what they themselves think. I tend to only keep friendships when they help both me and the other person.

So while I'm far from being not caring about myself, I also think the pursuit of truth is sometimes more important than personal feelings - whether my own or others. It depends on the situation. I would be a hero if I had to I guess, but if someone tells me "I feel you will get hit by a train", and there is no train in sight, I follow the truth.

So that there is no confusion, before I was saying that I use phrases like "I" when beginning a sentence too. Rather than saying "You seem distant today" to someone, I would just say, "I perceive a distance from you today." Some people read into that a lot.

You are person for others and yourself.....you know very well in how to judge things scenarios or something along that line..that can help others as well as yourself!. Such a great gift you have!
But there is one thing if you don’t mind me asking: when you have a problem is there some sign of ego blocking in your way?

It's hard to say. I have an ego that is a self defense mechanism based on past experiences. For example, I have had even worse experiences with friendships than relationships like love, and I attribute that to a monogamous relationship being more of a contract you can't leave willy-nilly than say, a dedicated friendship. So I often tell myself when someone asks to be my friend, "I wonder if they will turn out like the others or will they prove my notions wrong?"

And as far as every day egos go... It doesn't help that everyone I know happens to not provide me the proper challenge at a 2 player video game. Lol. I'm not sure whether it's healthier to be better than my friends and know it at video games, or healthier to jump into an online video game and realize that worldwide, I'm really not THAT good at them?

You have a good character! No one is perfect in this world.life is a lesson, I tend to think everything we do say in situations..is to better ourselves rather ‘looking better’ on the outside. I believe life only gets better if one is to Have few bumps&humps here and there..I wish you well and the best!
You wouldn’t want to see me online because I will kick your ***!lol..
Really good to chatting with you hopefully il see you more in chatts..go well friend

I just wanted to comment on this. Everyone has some narcissistic traits. It's normal. What becomes a problem is moving through the spectrum until you are mostly narcissistic. If you question your own narcissism and find fault with being a narcissist, then you are probably low on the spectrum - a.k.a. normal.

Do you believe in the claims of cartoon breakfast cereal commercials, and ought we to be Cuckoo for Coco Puffs? Its a religious question, but I'm not looking for a debate just your opinion.

I suppose you could do worse than to fave Kylo Ren. For example you could prefer whiny Luke.

Good news. We may be seeing improvement in this area. For a while now improvements have been limited to better graphics and faster processing, but new things are on the horizon. Keep in mind that we get what we pay for. The better games do charge. One thing you may or may not have heard about is the new open source Vulkan graphics drivers. These are a major upgrade over the previous OpenGL and will help video game designers to take better advantage of graphics hardware on multiple systems. That makes it easier for them to make a profit, which is good for us since they will be a little more willing to invest in their storylines and less time trying to recode everything to run on different OS's. I suspect, too, that people will begin to use video games as a new medium that replaces books and TV shows. We will probably start seeing fiction that doesn't come in a book or a film. In fact there already are some authors doing this though its kind of sketchy at the moment.

Most people do not consider that to be atheism, although technically you can be an atheist by rejecting just one or more deities.

I don't believe we can prove that we exist, but most people do. A lot take our existence for granted. I feel like existence could easily be a like a bubble that appears and then pops or it could be as eternally permanent as 1, 2, 3 is. Then again people are divided over whether 1, 2, 3 is an invention or a discovery; so... I personally don't assume that we are real, nor that there need be any holder holding us. We could be just some kind of what if scenario.

If you're asking me whether I buy into the common breakfast cereal, no. I actually have a mostly organic diet. Someone will say, "But foods labeled organic cost more money." Something weird happened though. When I stopped eating organics, and ate foods with a few more preservatives, my change in diet caused a rash on my arms. I went back to organics, and the rash disappeared. Weird what a diet change can do to you.

The only part I'm a little confused, is how this relates to religion. :)

What makes God tick?

That's the ultimate question. Too many people try to answer "What makes God tick" rather than wonder it, which they simply don't know. I put the wonder back into, "What makes God tick?" and don't try to answer anything presumed as much. So my starting point becomes much different than most God-believers. I'm open to the idea that to study science is to eventually learn God's ways and methods, though. Although I believe God is a separate entity than the world.

I had to look that one up. The internet says a sort of type of donkey, or a medieval catapult. Speaking of medieval type weapons, I remember when I watched The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in theatres and the rain starting coming down. Such a rather frightening experience.
