Completely Crushed, Heartbroken

With the attacks on the places of worship of various faiths depression and complete dismay is all I feel. Oh, I've been angry and thought about retaliating against Evangelical and Mormon places of worship, oh and a Mosque too. Thankfully I know that the God I worship will not allow that, and my own Amygdala (regulates our actions) works very well, and could perhaps be hyperactive. I am thankful for that.

I saw the Rabbi that is now missing a finger, and I saw the pictures of the flowers outside the Mosque in New Zealand. Heart breaking, sad so sad.

Its not affecting me so strongly, but I empathize. There isn't a lot you can do, but maybe if you make a token gesture you will be able to distance yourself from it, like do something related to it. You could write a letter or email, save a news article about the event or print it and put it in a file or write the name of the event a few times. Its not like you can go over there and actually change it, so maybe you should disconnect from it?

I’m from New Zealand. How to move forward?

If a thought of hatred comes, opposes it with a stronger thought of love. This is the time for peoples of all faiths to stand together in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who have been attacked.

Tis good that those with thoughts of violence towards
innocents have restraint imposed upon them by religion.
But it's ironic that such violence is also inspired by religion.

A better approach is to see people as individuals.
Wrongdoers from within one group don't make the whole
group responsible for the crimes.

Something to tide us over in this maelstrom of grief, (Gita)

It is found that the unreal has no being;
It is found that there is no non-being of the real.
The certainty of both these propositions is indeed surely seen
By the perceivers of truth.

Know that That by which all this universe
Is pervaded is indeed indestructible;
No one is able to accomplish
The destruction of the imperishable.

He who imagines this (the embodied Self) the slayer
And he who imagines this (the embodied Self) the slain,
Neither of them understands
This (the embodied Self) does not slay, nor is it slain.

Neither is this (the embodied Self) born
Nor does it die at any time,
Nor, having been, will it again come not to be.
Birthless, eternal, perpetual, primeval,
It is not slain when the body is slain.

He who knows this, the indestructible, the eternal,
The birthless, the imperishable,
In what way does this man cause to be slain, Arjuna?
Whom does he slay?

Weapons do not pierce this (the embodied Self),
Fire does not burn this,
Water does not wet this,
Nor does the wind cause it to wither.

This cannot be pierced, burned,
Wetted or withered;
This is eternal, all pervading, fIxed;
This is unmoving and primeval.

It is said that This is unmanifest,
Beyond thought, and unchanging.
Therefore, having understood in this way,
You should not mourn.

Very best wishes to you and to everyone.

When anger overtakes me I too think of retaliating and revenge. But adding to the fire only burns everyone.

I am right there with you. I am brokenhearted over the violence, am having some depression, thyroid, and addiction symptoms. People of many faiths are really hurting, and if anyone needs a friend, I am here to support you.

I totally agree. I love the word interfaith. I saw on the news, not too long ago, that Priests, Rabbis and Pastors were working together to help the people trying to legally immigrate from Central America. Some Evangelicals have even realized that they should be helping their fellow Christians from Central America instead of trying to keep them out, call them names, lock them up, etc. God is love and, to me, there is one God who loves everyone in the world.

What is happening in Americastan is completely selfish and hedonistic, especially since our country has helped to create the desire for them to come here.
