Is this reckless panhandling?

Today I'm going panhandling and it says: "looking for work. Call or text me (Matt) at" then I leave my phone number "if you have a job for me."

I'm guessing roughly a minimum of 75 more people each day will see my phone number. At the same time, they will see a guy possibly risking a lot for the possibility of getting a job. I think that is a good idea because they will think, "this isn't just some lazy bum. This guy really wants to work."

Thoughts or feedback? Speaking of my phone number, there were multiple people at this website who I was calling or texting. I loaned my phone to a junkie who lost it. PM me if you wish to have my new number.

Peace!

I agree with @Stanyon But the problem is that just asking for a job is too vague - If I saw that, I'd think "but what kind of job"

Are you going begging and soliciting work, or just asking for a job on the street corner?
If you've lost your phone I guess you're just going to be giving your E-mail number.

If you're just looking for a job, why not try something like:

Do NOT give me money!
Seek honest work, not handouts.
Inquire at: #########

That should catch someone's eye.

I got a new phone.

But I'm going to try your advice after I try mine.

Thank you!

You may be on to something. Finding a job through normal means seems just about impossible here.
I have a serious criminal history and I have terrible work history as well so I'm not going to use past employers as references.

So I'm turning to odd jobs. No taxes

Odd and peculiar jobs are the way to go.
Just make sure your sign is large, clean, neat and legible. I see people begging with illegible messages on dirty scraps of cardboard all the time. Their lack of attention to detail doesn't speak well of their work ethic.

A bow tie is a nice touch, too.

I print out my messages so they are completely easy to read then tape them to cardboard with a printed picture of a Viking with the words "Go Vikings"! Lots of fanatic Viking fans here I'm trying to delight.

Paint the cardboard white, with colorful lettering -- if you can find a colored Magic Marker.

The last time I gave money to a panhandler his sign said he'd just got out of jail and was trying to get back on his feet. I admired his honesty.

Why don't you stop behaving like someone that no one in their right mind would want to hire? When you have a history of being a selfish, irresponsible, jerk, you have to prove yourself to society if you want society to accept you, again. That means starting at the bottom, and doing life over, differently this time. It means humbling yourself, taking whatever job you can find, and showing up on time, every time, with a positive and grateful attitude. But you can't do that as a junkie. So you're going to have to deal with that, first.

Good luck.

Otherwise you're just another begging junkie pretending that you're not just another begging junkie. Living a life of lies that only you are stupid enough to believe.

"Is this reckless panhandling"?

Sounds more like creative panhandling to me.

Still think you should learn how to play the harmonica though.

There was a guy in Richmond VA. years ago that used to make up wild and somewhat obscene entertaining stories for you, on the spot, in exchange for a 'donation'. That was creative panhandling.

Technically, people who earn money from any kind of job are supposed to pay taxes. Even odd jobs.

That's probably true wherever you live, but here in the USA it isn't.

If @PopeADope had easily obtainable religious credentials, he could take donations without ever reporting them to the government at all.

It's one of the perks of being religious in the USA.

I wouldn't even call that panhandling. I'd call it doing stand-up on an unusually large stage.
