Socialist Democrats comical as it seems they are all running for president.

Spray and pray method. A sign that they've lost touch with independent voters, because they no longer know who independents are or what they want.

Throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. It'd be great if they didn't rely on Twitter users to try and figure out what the Democratic base is, though. Most of the Democratic base wants to go more moderate, not all this far left "woke" progressive activist stuff. Screw the pie-in-the-sky Green New Deal and left-wing identitarianism. Give us serious proposals for how to solve pollution, clean up our oceans and rivers, fix the student loan system, solve the crisis at the border, fix the health care system, lower medical costs, end the opioid crisis, shelter the homeless and sort out our schools.

Thank you! We do not need radical ideas based on best-case scenarios. We can get to that later, if we are still interested. We need tangible, realistic ideas that speak to the needs of the majority.

Because if we've learned anything about American politics last election cycle, it's that people are so enthused with neoliberalism -- must have been why Trump and Sanders did so badly! You are the only person who wants "moderate" politicians; don't delude yourself that everyone else does too.

Everything you've mentioned requires radical change to fix. No wonder you want to be "given" solutions, as if they can somehow be conjured out of thin air. Leftists don't need solutions to be "given" to us, because we actually understand the problems to begin with.

This isn't too alarming. It is expected to have a large field when a party is attempting to flip the white house.
I remember the Republicans had quite a crowd last cycle, and I think the cycle before that. But 34's kinda going ham. Actually, I just checked, and the Republicans had 17 candidates, which up to that point had been a historic record for both parties. Now the Democrats are saying "hold my beer" and literally doubling that amount.

That is a bit much. I have a strong suspicion that a large number of them will drop out early or defer to a VP bid. Joe Biden entering the race will knock a few of the low hanging fruits off the tree.

I'm game for moderate politicians. Trumps election threw the pendulum too far to one side, it needs to recenter itself before attempting to swing the opposite way.

I'm not the one saying this. Gallup already has.

My problem with Ocasio-Cortez is she thinks that she can just put out something like the Green New Deal and expect it to pass and that there will be no repercussions to massive swaths of our economy and infrastructure. There absolutely will be MASSIVE repercussions. And they wouldn't be good ones. I agree that we need a green energy grid, but we also need to make it so that switching over to green energy will be a boost to our economy and not a drain. Ocasio-Cortez certainly doesn't understand what she's talking about when it comes to the environment, nor does anyone who helped write that abomination.

Issues like cleaning up the oceans and rivers require a multifaceted approach, and that does involve simple things like getting rid of disposable plastic silverware and plates, getting rid of single-use plastic bags, making bulk stores a standard, and always asking if customers want straws with their drinks rather than automatically giving one. But when you start getting rid of all or most plastic, then you need to come up with a feasible alternative for how to package meat that is shipped or sold in stores; plastic is water- and airproof, and preserves a nearly sterile environment within the packaging that allows perishable food items to keep for much longer than they normally would be able to. And then there's the issue of how to clean microplastic out of the water and air. Especially in the water, we have to make sure we're not filtering out plankton along with microplastic.

Understanding problems is easy. But coming up with realistic solutions that will stand the test of time involves more conversation and usage of brain cells than what AOC has put out.

And for the record, I am on the left. Nice job assuming my politics.

Oh 100%. My money's on Beto being the first out. Kinda hard to run for president when you literally don't have a platform that you're running on.

Yeah, he is running on fumes from his run last year. He has name recognition but that is about it.

Here's a tangible and realistic idea -- seize uninhabited homes and redistribute them to people with less than, say, $100,000 in wealth and assets. Seize assets of Coca-Cola, Nestle, Chiquita, Academi, and any other companies found to have perpetrated some atrocity or other. Publicly execute Kissinger, Cheney, and Rumsfeld, and incarcerate any politicians who've served to sell out the government to the interests of private capital -- say, Andrew Wheeler, Scott Pruitt, Ajit Pai, Betsy DeVos, et al. That will "speak to the needs of the majority" by striking fear in all those who helped move the country in the direction it's gotten now, and enriched themselves in the process.
