Who Has Been to Australia?

It is 500km for me to Mt Isa and 700km to Cairns, the nearest cities. Between each small town or fuel stop, around 150 to 200km. :D Great thing now though, all this can now be done on bitumen, even if only one lane of it at times.

Gotta be grateful for small mercies......no one can imagine the ruts and corregations on outback country roads, especially after the wet season. Had relatives at Nhulunbuy who have just moved back to the big smoke after about 15 years there. Not for the fainthearted traveler.... No 4WD no travel.

Had a big ROFLOL with that one :D

You have not met the best of bush mechanics I see....ha ha. Since when is a 4 x 4 required by the locals. Back in the 90's I sold a v8 valliant station wagon to a Kowanyama fella. It was 360 km of deep bulldust to drive from Normanton, but hey that was the monthly shopping trip.

What can I say, to a person that has done real bulldust, it is an amazing feat they do.

Regards Tony

I hear that imaginary sharks are nothing compared to imaginary jellies, especially irukandji.

I was a big fan of The crocodile hunter. Horrible when he died.

Yes we lost two Aussie legends at that time...both doing what they loved. Steve Irwin killed by the barb of a stingray and Peter Brock killed driving a rally car. Can't believe it was so long ago now. Have you seen Steve's son Robert? Chip off the old block!

Funny that people think our critters are strange.....we have grown up with them. They are just part of who we are. We have some of the world's most venomous creatures but when they are part of the landscape (especially in country areas) you just learn to live with them.

Interesting. We have a spider over here that looks identical to your funnel web spider, but ours is completely harmless. Our black widow on the other hand is just as nasty.
