You grew up Lutheran? Was that before 'seminex' - maybe an LCMS congregation? What made you decide to leave? Thank you!

It was Trinity Lutheran, which I assume is a branch of LCMS. I never got confirmed and wasn't really aware of the different subdivisions of the church.

I mostly left because I simply didn't believe. I was very good at memorizing catechism, but I realized at one point that I was expected to say I actually *believed* what they were having me memorize. And I didn't. That caused a bit of a crisis for me because my grandparents (who were raising me) *really* wanted me to be confirmed.

Fortunately, my mother managed to get me back (long, long story) and the issue resolved and I wasn't confirmed.
