Does the Qur’an really have errors?

I saw this video posted on a Christian forum I just joined. I do not know the Qur’an so I cannot refute it.

Then I saw another video attacking the Qur’an. How valid is this?

David Wood-tier polemicists are amusing to say the least, they don't leave a scratch. As for the Apostate Prophet, yeah there is a pretty big elephant in the room in his entire video but I'll let you kick over his sandcastle yourself, shouldn't be that difficult for you - heck I'd even feel sorry for him if he wasn't arousing the same constant circlejerk.

The Bible has errors too..
Of course it does, but that does not mean we throw the entire Bible away, which is what this video suggests we do with the Qur'an. ;)
Funny how some people cannot see how the pot is calling the kettle black.

What is the purpose of this thread? To those who believe it is the word of Allah - to others - it was ultimately written by humans and that is all there is to it - take the good - and there is plenty if you care / bother to actually read the Qu'ran - and live your life according to it. It is one of the ways to the Light - and gets one there just about as well as any other path.

Here is a reasonable list of scientific errors in the Quran;
Scientific Errors in the Qur'an - WikiIslam

I believe that any truthful person who removes biases from themselves will see that the Quran does contain scientific errors after reading the link provided.

The original purpose was because i wanted to have something to say to the Christian who posted the video. She had a question and I was looking for an answer.

Her question was: "In the Islamic belief, the Quran is the perfect word of the almighty creator. What does that mean, if we prove that only one piece of knowledge in the Quran is objectively wrong?"

The Bible also has scientific and historical errors.

That sounds suspiciously like a quote from the Apostate Prophet videos - he makes of there being an apparent "crossing of the wires" between Miriam / Mary - the mother of Jesus versus a sister of Aaron and Moses and a daughter of Imran thereby causing a thousand year separation between the individuals

Yes, that is where it came from. That is explained on the first video I posted.

There is something in the Bible about those who are sinless getting to cast the first stone John 8:7 I believe
Since the Bible has errors as well - the bible followers need to be humble about what they say about other faiths

No the Quran does not have errors. We do have errors in our understanding.

"They must...approach reverently and with a mind purged from preconceived ideas the study of the Qur'án which, apart from the sacred scriptures of the Bábí and Bahá'í Revelations, constitutes the only Book which can be regarded as an absolutely authenticated Repository of the Word of God." (Shoghi Effendi, Advent of Divine Justice, p. 49)

It is not an easy book to understand and we have been told this;

"It is certainly most difficult to thoroughly grasp all the Surihs of the Qur'án, as it requires a detailed knowledge of the social, religious and historical background of Arabia at the time of the appearance of the Prophet. The believers can not possibly hope, therefore, to understand the Surihs after the first or even second or third reading. They have to study them again and again, ponder over their meaning, with the help of certain commentaries and explanatory notes as found, for instance, in the admirable translation made by SALE, endeavor to acquire as clear and correct understanding of their meaning and import as possible. This is naturally a slow process, but future generations of believers will certainly come to grasp it. For the present, the Guardian agrees, that it would be easier and more helpful to study the Book according to subjects, and not verse by verse and also in the light of the Báb, Bahá'u'lláh and 'Abdu'l-Bahá's interpretation which throw such floods of light on the whole of the Qur'án." (On behalf of Shoghi Effendi, Directives of the Guardian, p. 64)

Lets look at 2 verses from that link

18:86 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: Near it he found a People: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority,) either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness."

18:90 Until, when he came to the rising of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had provided no covering protection against the sun.

To me this is ties into the close of a religious dispensation, the sun has set when interpretation has muddied the word of God with false ideas, the people now not worthy of carrying the name they profess. This state remains until the rising of the sun of a new dispensation, again amongst these same people, people still caught up in the dogma held when the sun last set. These dogma have no protection against the New Message.

Thus I clearly see these as a Metaphor of deeper meanings, which the passage above (Directives of the Guardian), that says , "that it would be easier and more helpful to study the Book according to subjects, and not verse by verse."

First of all the list contained more than one item.

Secondly, even if it was using a metaphor that still contains a scientific error.
God could have made a point about the close of a dispensation without misleading the people into thinking the sun sets in a puddle.

You’ll remember @Vinayaka made a metaphor which demonstrates why this type of thinking is not fully correct. The metaphor he made was along the lines of, “if you walk a stray path you’ll fall(metaphorically) just as you would if you walked to the edge of the earth and fell off (science).”

The Quran asserts that the sun sets in a muddy puddle, so even if you are going to assert that it was a metaphor, you have to acknowledge if you are honest with yourself that it gives no indication that it was all a metaphor.

Then there are all the other scientific errors which you woefully failed to address.

Yes the list was long, I read a few and saw metaphor in them all. I am no scholar in any shape or form, so it is not for me to explain the deep metaphor they contain. In the future many will take up the challenge.

"The Quran…is therefore not a book. It is more like a sea of signs. These signs are formless visuals for the inner eye and soothing resonance for inner hearing. They draw us out of ourselves into a mystical vastness, obscuring selfhood and its boundaries of form and time. Like the Nature-lover who is drawn ever deeper into the obscurity of wilderness, the seeker of the Quran is drawn into the immanence of Wholeness. All signs manifest the Unity of Divine Will, Divine Purpose and Divine Mercy; beyond space, beyond time and beyond dogma." – Saeed Malik, A Perspective on the Signs of Al-Quran, p. 13.

I offer that It is not I that has to address them, I am happy to know that if I see error in the Quran, that it is all my error. ;) I am also happy in the knowledge given in the Baha'i Writings, that the Quran is sure guidance.

One only has to read the explanations of Abdul'baha to show that the way we read scripture is usually far from the way they should be read. As I am but an embryo in the matrix of this world, I also acknowledge that as an embryo, it is just at the start of life and I should not expect to have all knowledge of the Spirit.

Pure nonsense not worth wasting time on refuting this deplorable condescension.

For starters, every Christian Who rjects both Muhammad and the Quran rejects Jesus because Muhammad is prophesied in both the OT and NT. This is very clear to me from my own investigation.

The accusations about wife beating is FALSE. It never originated from the Quran.

See post #49. This is gone into detail how it came about,

A Guide....How To Beat Your Wife The Correct Way

Aisha was about 18-19 when she consumed her marriage to Prophet Muhammad. No birth certificates, no official documents and every non believing non Muslim suddenly believes in one incorrect Hadith but not the Quran? The prejudice and bias is so thick it’s sickening.

There are plenty of proofs this is untrue but those who have nothing better to do than falsely accuse a Prophet of God will do so.

Accusations of brutality and savagery again biased and display complete and utter ignorance of the Quran and preying on other ignorant people who also have not studied the Quran.

Let’s look at how the Quran views other religions.

2:62

Verily, they who believe (Muslims), and they who follow the Jewish religion, and the Christians, and the Sabeites –whoever of these believeth in God and the last day, and doeth that which is right, shall have their reward with their Lord: fear shall not come upon them, neither shall they be grieved. (Rodwell)

And are Muslims instructed to go and kill everyone who is a disbeliever as our condescender states?

2:190

2:190 And fight for the cause of God against those who fight against you: but commit not the injustice of attacking them first: God loveth not such injustice:

J M Rodwell

There are passages in the Quran also saying to return good for evil and to be at peace with those who don’t attack and kill the Muslims . In other words self defence.

The Quran has no errors whatsoever. Neither did Muhammad ever err once. These are people who just want to incite hatred against Muslims and its people like these that are spreading hatred in our world.
