So what happened? Nothing happened, that's what happened.

The sun never became dark.
The moon still gives light.
The stars are still in the sky,
Everything in the sky has not changed.
And everyone did not see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in the sky.​

Jesus wasn't wrong.

Mark 9:1 notes, "Until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power;"

First, what is the Kingdom of God? Romans 14:17 answers that: "For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

It is also Jesus being seen in a Kingdom appearance (more on that later).

When did it come with power? In Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

So, the power would come by virtue of the Holy Spirit. When did that happen?

It (the power) happened in Acts chapter two, verses 1-4: "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

After that, Act 5:12 notes the miracles and power of the disciples: "And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people."

But when did some of the disciples see Jesus coming in his kingdom?

"It is that Jesus’ Transfiguration occurs next in the synoptists’ accounts (Mt 17.1-8; Mk 9.2-8; Lk 9.28-36a). Jesus took Peter, James, and John “up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him” (Mt 17.1-3). From a literary perspective, it seems pretty obvious that all three synoptists intended for their readers to understand that Jesus referred to his upcoming Transfiguration when he said some disciples would see him coming in his kingdom before they die."

Did Jesus’ Disciples See “the Son of Man Coming in his Kingdom”?

Yeah, the Bible is certainly full of truly contradictory statements, isn't it. All of which demand that to choose one requires a person to ignore the other. One more reason I find the Christian religion unacceptable.

Even without Reimarus’ allegation, the general consensus of Christian theologians throughout church history has been that the NT does indeed teach that Jesus would return “soon,” with Jesus even saying it would be in a “generation,” and thus in the 1st century.

When this didn’t happen, it embarrassed Christians so much that they gradually refrained from preaching Jesus’ second coming.

I believe Reimarus and all those learned scholars who have agreed with him about Jesus having been wrong have themselves been wrong.

The key to understanding Jesus’ prediction that some of his disciples would see the kingdom of God before dying is in examining closely what all three synoptists immediately record thereafter.

Mind you, they don’t always arrange their events about Jesus’ life in the same order. But here they do, and for good reason.

How would one know anything from antiquity, unless there were multiple, independent confirmations? And there are with the New Testament, etc.

The generation spoken of refers to the Parable of the Fig Tree. Which you posted here:



This Parable, long story short, is talking about when Israel becomes a country controlled by the Jewish people. Which happened on May 14th, 1948.

So according to this prophecy the generation that is spoken of, is who we call the baby boomers basically. Based on that. The apocalypse is set to happen sometime between 1948 and 2058 (roughly, no man shall know the exact date).

This is based on a human life span, not many humans live longer than 110 years so I'm safe with calling 110 years as good.

At least that is my understanding of it. Still got 29 years to know if I'm right or wrong though.

I do not believe that fits the context. The fig tree is not the sign the fig tree is about the sign.

I believe that is incorrect.

I believe the Bible sets lifespan at threescore and ten which is 70 years. More than that is a bonus.

I believe with a later date and shorter lifespan it comes out pretty close. However 1999 never happened so that shows how easy it is to be mistaken.

I believe I always expect the worst from the JW's. I believe the JW's will swallow unquestioningly any teaching coming down from the leaders.

But no one could accuse you of believing something that came from others? Is your belief system all your own work then?

Thanks for noticing that the JW,s obey God- Luke 10:16-- Jesus telling all that, if one rejects, Jesus, appointed teachers, they are rejecting Jesus and God as well. Or accepting them works the opposite. That's by listening and obeying. This was applied to the apostles and whom they trained.
( Matthew24:45) The teachers Jesus appoints here in these last days, It took correction of 1750 years of errors and their own personal errors, otherwise this truth could not be a truth ( Daniel 12:4)--By making correction in front of the whole world, proves 100% Gods truth is what they seek.

I believe that is difficult to determine. I would say at present the most influential person regarding my beliefs is Jesus.

I believe I have no doubts they seek it. It would just be nice if they found it once in a while.

I believe I didn't appoint them. I am quite sure someone did but it wasn't me.

The bible teaches--Jesus appoints them- Matthew 24:45

All thru scripture a generation is 40 years.. as far back as the Israelites wandering in the desert... and the Temple was destroy 40 years after the crucifixion.
