What is your thoughts on Abortion?

Ponder This

Well-Known Member
Yes, you made the bold empty claim that it is "obvious".
This very thread shows it is not nearly as "obvious" as you claim.

My question is that you want a fetus to be exempt from Bodily autonomy.
I simply ask why.

Perhaps you are confused: I did not make an exception based on whether or not a woman is alive or dead. When a person dies, the right bodily security does not go away. Doctors don't magically gain the power to abort fetuses in the wombs of dead people that they couldn't abort while they were alive and refusing to give consent to be harmed.

So what 'exemption' are you talking about? In what way did it suddenly become justified to abort a fetus in the womb of a dead woman? What are you talking about?

People have always taken innocent life. Are you a vegetarian?
We are consumers, not producers. Even vegans kill things.

but I do believe in God and I believe terminating life in the womb is playing God in a way
Enforcing childbirth is also playing God in a way. Every time you take a pill to stop that infection or put an ice pack on an injury, you're playing God because God should be healing you, right?

No one has the right to take life except him and every action has a consequence.
Do you eat? You realize that you are killing 24/7, right? Even when you're not eating, your immune system is killing all day and all night.

but a party girl who had a little too much fun and uses abortion as a form of birth control.. I can't muster empathy for.
A child can't adopt a child because they're too immature to be parents, but if the child is PREGNANT, some people want to force this same child to be a parent. If some girl gets pregnant through "partying", how does that show the required level of responsibility in good parenting? Why force such a petulant parent on a poor child?

I'm 41. I don't want any kids because I have to "raise" a 63 year old, my own mother. I will be in menopause before I'm able to have enough emotional reserves for family additions.

I feel they should take responsibility for their actions
Just not the ones who got them pregnant, right?

At the very least consider adoption I think.
Yes, let's let the child grow up to be 18 without being adopted, learning that no one cared about them, or let them be handed over to psychos who imprison and torture and kill kids. That's the smart solution.

Youre killing something thats living.
You do that every time you eat something. Even if you didn't personally kill it, it still died for your life.

Again, if we have concern and value for animals how much more value should a living being that will eventually become a human being have?
Many don't become human beings, though. They die before getting out of the womb. There are stories of (Catholic) hospitals refusing to abort DEAD fetuses, like somehow not getting rid of the CORPSE will make it live again or something.

But if the answer is: "I just don't want my arm anymore. I want to throw it in the garbage and never see it again", then we are likely to question her sanity. Is there something wrong with her?
We let a lot of people do weird things to their bodies. "I want my child's sensitive parts mutilated." "I want to look like a demon or a tiger or whatever silly nonsense I can think up while drunk." "I want art on my skin that is permanent."

So this notion that the fetus is a 'person' that is invading her body, is something that needs to be examined, because it is actually perfectly natural for her body to sustain the fetus.
Not in all cases, or miscarriages wouldn't be a thing.

I often hear the "playing God" card when it comes to shutting off life support, but the fact is, putting them on life support is the "playing God" part.
Exactly. If you don't take someone off life support, the angelic army might not have a Chosen One to play the golden PSP. :)
