What kind of apps and for what platform and use?

For example, most people have email apps, texting apps and calendar apps on their phones and use them all the time.

We (my son) use some iphone app for credit card processing.
That's it.
My accounting software couldn't possibly run on a phone.
I can't get it to run on anything later than Windows 98.

Which ones do you use and how helpful are they for your work?

The answer is "it depends" - on several factors - such as

-What is the business?
-What is the app set up to do?
-Does it have all the information it needs or does it need to "call home" to process data or initiate another process?
-How is the $ being made? Per click or Per subscription
-Is TP advertising allowed?
-Are there in-app sales? If yes - of what?

Too many variables for there to be a straightforward answer based on the information provided

As an example an app like Yelp! lets one order food for pickup and provides perks such as "check-in" - I am sure there is a fee collected from the vendor who receives the order thru Yelp

I can't stand credit apps. It makes me wonder whether or not credit card numbers get intentionally picked up during transmission by the undesirable elements of society.

In theory they are encrypted, trouble is there is no way to tell on an app, even reputable banks and credit companies can have their software cloned.

Apps for business are very popular now and that happened because they're one of the most effective tech innovations for developing it.
They have such benefits for example:
- increasing greatly general amount of your customers/clients (tablets and smartphones became extremely popular nowadays and it's known that an average user spends at least three hours during the day with them and many of them start a purchase path from the mobile apps)
- combining effectively with your website (because mobile apps complement the capabilities of a website, they increase the customers' loalty in addition to attracting new customers with the website)
- improving your general marketing (applications can bring you much information about your customers, for example their predictive analytics principle is very convinient for determine trends and content strategy for your target audience)
- using mobile apps as a social platform (with integrating different social features into mobile apps you can increase your sales, monetization, customers' engagement and so on)

Considering all these things almost all modern companies use the applications.

You're rather safe with credit cards because you can....
- Review your account, & challenge any wrongful charges.
- Have your provider alert you to unexpected charges.
- Have your provider refuse to pay disputed charges.

Don't use a debit card.
And especially don't ever use your PIN.
It gives thieves full access to your bank account.
