President Trump to close down border

Or he was demonstrating that he was a complete idiot.
There's that too.
But the other day I heard talking heads on NPR talk (grudgingly) about how
shrewd Trump is in managing public discourse regarding collusion & obstruction.
It seems that anti-Trumpettes fall into one extreme or the other.....
.....evil genius vs blithering boob.
Both views can be supported. People can see what they want.

But bear in mind that this utter idiot managed to beat the best candidate
the DNC had to offer. Even with their skillful behind the scenes scheming
to give their highly intelligent anointed one every advantage, she still lost.
He played the game better...more skillfully in what he said, when he said
it, & to whom. It's how he turned her plurality of votes into his majority
in the electoral college. So even if he's dumb as a stump, he has eunf
simple luck to prevail against his foes. (But there's also the possibility
that he's smarter than the average bear.)

Actually there are numerous studies that show they give us a boost in wages.
https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2013/01/31/economists-immigrants-actually-boost-wages

.

"When the supply of workers goes up, the price that firms have to pay to hire workers goes down. Wage trends over the past half-century suggest that a 10 percent increase in the number of workers with a particular set of skills probably lowers the wage of that group by at least 3 percent. Even after the economy has fully adjusted, those skill groups that received the most immigrants will still offer lower pay relative to those that received fewer immigrants."

Yes, Immigration Hurts American Workers

Immigrants tend to frequently work jobs that Americans won't work. Agriculture, for example, has a ton of immigrant workers. And because of their lower wages, we get a reduced cost in food prices. Sure many immigrants are also coming here as research scientists, clinicians, and professors, but most are low-skilled workers taking the jobs American's are reluctant and hesitant to take.

Our POTUS has come up with a great idea without having a border shutdown for Mexico to get its act together.
AUTO TARIFFS!!!

In the game of go, one sometimes plays moves called a "probe".
You play it, not knowing which way your opponent will respond.
It might be useful....or it might not. It's a useful tactic.
It seems that Trump was doing this.
Yeah. Trump has the intellect of a GO player. Uh huh.

It's possible that he was probing for a useful response.

There's a danger is being filled with hatred for & rage at Trump.
One will tend to see everything as confirming that he's stupid & evil.
Other options are off the table with such a prejudiced view.

Trump, a novice candidate, beat the best the Democrats had to offer
by playing the game of politics, something they've been skilled at for
centuries. Anti-Trumpettes cannot face the incompetence of their own
party, so they blame voters. Try that mindset in 2020. See how it goes.
It would be wise to allow that he might be smarter than he sounds.

Back in March Trump stated he was closing the border.
At a Trump rally, his sheeples cheered and cheered.
Trump's aides and industrialists and Repubs in Congress all said it would be a disaster.
Trump did a coitus interruptus.
The sheelpes still cheer.

Back in 2015 Trump said Mexico would pay for a border wall.
At his rallies, his sheeples cheered and cheered.
Trump goes to Congress and wants the American taxpayer to pay for the wall.
At his rallies, his sheeples cheer and cheer.
Congress says NO and Trump says he'll just take money from other approved Military projects.
At his rallies, his sheeples cheer and cheer.

At some point one has to ask, how can so many people be so gullible?

His election is a bit of an enigma. He openly appealed to the lowest in the party, Hillary's basket full of deplorables, yet he could appeal to the more business minded Republicans that managed to vote for him without throwing up in their mouths.

Both candidates were vomitworthy, each in their own way.
Thus, many of us (of all political stripes) used the lesser of 2 evils analysis.

The trick is getting them to internalise the tribal identification. These people have been hating "libruls" so long that they'll support whoever they believe "the libruls" oppose. They don't care about facts or consistency because facts and consistency weren't why they supported him in the first place.

I agree with you on that. I am still amazed that so many Democrats could not see the huge, or should I say 'UGE, flaws that Hillary has.
People tend to avert their eyes from flaws in their own.
This is why I recommend actively avoiding either liking
or disliking a candidate. Look at them thru a lens of
emotional neutrality....examine the warts & open sores.

I thought of mentioning "festering pustules", but thought
what was over the top.

He wedged out the other Republican candidates until he won with minority coalitions. Then essentially did the same thing at the election. If you ever find yourself in a general melee, don't square off against the biggest and the best person in the scrum, take out the smallest target, save your energy, let the big guys waste their energy on each other, then come in for the easy victory at the end.

Although it will assure he probably won't get elected , I surely hope he does not close down the border. If its closed according to WIkipedia closed border will mean trucks that bring in fruit and vegetables from Mexico won't be able to deliver.

That means we will be short produce in our grocery stores. It is also very dangerous. Again I don't care about weather it helps Dems or not I want whats best for the country, I hope he does the right thing and does not close the border.

Sure people are too dependent on $$ and food to do what is right. Better to lose our states to the Reconquista. Same thing why Brexit failed...##/ Better to become a sharia nation for England than lose $$.

Trump is just a con man anyway. He says anything, any lie will do. Close it down next week or next year, all the same. Even though Trump is a con man, he was still better than Hil. Those were the choices in 2016, so settled for the least dmage. Hil would have caused a civil war with gun confiscation.

Party is exceedingly important and often overlooked.

We now have two Supreme Court judges that are conservatives. If Hillary got elected we would now have two Supreme Court judges that are liberals.

The US withdrew from the Paris Accord and the Iran deal. If Hillary got elected, we would still be in both.
