If you don't believe in the Quran why do you think it was written?

Here's one. The Arabs were herders and merchants.. They NEVER bred animals too early …. and historically girls did NOT marry until after the onset of the menses.

Age of Aisha (ra) at time of marriage - Muslim

Well, a couple of things about that:

First, you have chosen from an admittedly "apologetic" source -- one that claims to be "presenting Islam as peaceful, tolerant, rational, inspiring." Now that is interesting, since you yourself have argued that it's okay to kill those who renounce the faith. And as we see in Brunei, or some of the other capital punishment hot spots like Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and others, that does not necessarily appear to be the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Second, your source was written about 700 years after the events in question.

Third, not all hadith are considered equally reputable or valuable by all Muslims, but there are various ahadith stating that Aisha was either nine or ten at the time of her consummation that come from collections with sahih status, meaning they are regarded as reputable by the majority of Muslims.

I do not believe this to at all settled, and as I have said, the majority of scholars disagree with you, and favour a much younger Aisha.

From what I have read Muhammed was a reluctant messenger. I think his mission was to return the people of the Arabian peninsula to the God of Abraham.
I believe you are quite correct. He married an older woman for her money with which he began what became Islam, which suggests he held a great deal of hatred for his mother.
Peace

What a crock.. He worked for Khadijah for several years and she proposed to him and wrote the marriage contract. His mother died when he was born.. What's wrong with you?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I wonder about this excuse. Some say it isn't real and it was made up, but if so why do you think they would do such a thing?
Same as modern religions like Scientology or Eckankar or Mormonism among others.

Someone thinks it up, finds a following whom they convinced, write literature and call it scripture or what not, and the rest is history.

As for reasons, someone probably got happy over their invention thinking it's substantial in some capacity, Others probably found an easy way to make money off the gullible and impressionable, or just had a weird experience and ran off with it.
