Why worship God? Because Gods are the givers of life. Without Gods, nothing would exist. So we are grateful and we honor them with rituals. But most importantly, Gods show the way with dharma. so with gods, we live and if we follow dharma, we live well.
Are there other reasons?
in Buddhist terminology, Gautama became the Buddha the Awakened, or Enlightened, One.
Others view him as the final one of a series of Buddhas to preach or revive the dharma (Pali, Dhamma),
Still others view him as a bodhisattva, (one who had attained enlightenment) .
As to the effect of Hindu principles on millions of the inhabitants of India, writer Mulk Raj Anand commented: "Unfortunately, the reassertion of Hindu Dharma [custom] in the code of Manu, with a more rigid caste system, with its degradation of women, and its insistence on ritual, preserved the discriminations which were to divide Indian society for all time". The Illustrated Weekly of India, November 17, 1974, p. 13.
the Bhagavad Gita, represents God as saying: "Even those who are devoted to other deities and worship them, filled with faith, they too really worship Me".
Some clergyman of Christendom agree with this claiming: God speaks through all religions.
So intricate is the mythology of hinduism that the New Larousse Encyclopedia of Mythology states:
"Indian mythology is an inextricable jungle of luxuriant growths. When you enter it you lose the light of day and all clear sense of direction".
Clearly there is confusion when it comes to the type of worship that God accepts. A christian should be aware that these teachings are diametrically opposite to the teachings of Christ.
(Matthew 7:13, 14) "Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it".
