Correct! The Pascal Lamb of which Jesus was seen to be the reality, had to die between the two evenings on the day of preparation to the Passover.

The Jews divided their 12 hour daylight period that followed their 12 hour period of Darkness, into morning and evening: Up until mid-day, all was morning or fore-noon; after that, all was afternoon or evening. Their first evening began just after twelve o'clock as the sun began its descent toward the horizon, and continued till sunset; their second evening began at dusk and continued till dark.
The Lambs were killed between Mid-day and sunset of the thirteenth day of Nisan, [
3 PM, the time of the day when Jesus was killed] the lambs were eaten in the evening of the 14th day of Nisan which was the beginning of the 24 hour day of Passover, which finished at sunset, which was the beginning of the 15th day of Nisan, the first day of the seven day Festival of Unleavened Bread, that followed the 24 hour day of Passover.
Leviticus 23: 5; The Passover, celebrated to honour the Lord, begins at sunset, the beginning of the 14 th day of the first month. On the 15th day the festival of Unleavened Bread begins, etc.
By the time of Jesus, the Jews had incorporated the day of Passover into their seven day festival of Unleavened Bread, but Jesus, the reality of the Passover Lamb, still held the Passover meal with his disciples in the evening and beginning of the 14 th day of the first month, but instead of eating a Pascal Lamb, the disciples ate the bread and wine, which were symbolically the body of Christ, the reality of the sacrificial lamb.
And Jesus died on the day of preparation to the then Jewish Passover, which was eaten by the Jews in the evening of the 15 th, the first day of the seven-day Festival of Unleavened Bread.
