Cannabis

One could say it encourages a false sense of confidence that could potentially create legal issues like an alcoholic that maintains that he or she can handle the alcohol without any problems ever arising.
For many, actually it's the opposite when you take it. It is more likely to make you paranoid than confident. On the other hand, alcohol can be a real confidence booster.

Like the story making the rounds: if five guys get drunk they may start a fight; if five guys get stoned they may start a band.

He must've had the genes for it then and I'm sorry to hear that.

As with alcohol, peoples' metabolism varies a lot. We've yet to do a ton of study on cannabis. That said, most folks can tell it's not good for them rather quickly. (Neither of them suit me ... at all.) Here in Canada, since legalisation 4 months ago, I've seen no changes. If anything, some research indicates there is less alcohol being drunk, and less meth being used.

Ok...thank you for the info.

There have been problems reported in Canada as a result of legalization.
Data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) shows that over the past three years the number of emergency room visits because of cannabis overdoses in Ontario has almost tripled — from 449 in 2013-14, to nearly 1,500 in 2017-18.

In Alberta, the number has nearly doubled over the same timeframe, from 431 to 832.

That's just the tip of the iceberg," said Heather Hudson at the Ontario Poison Centre at SickKids children's hospital in Toronto, pointing to a rise in the number of cases involving children and cannabis.

"We are certainly getting more calls about children who are being exposed unintentionally," she said
Currently edibles are not legal in Canada but they are on deck to be legalized in Oct. 2019?

The risks of edibles are documented in the same article that was referenced above.

When you ingest something edible it's going to peak in two to four hours after you take it in. So you should not increase the amount that you're taking until the four-hour mark...

People sometimes eat more of a cannabis product when they don't feel an immediate strong effect.

We're seeing a lot of people out there who are accidentally ingesting huge amounts of cannabis. They're not realizing that what they're taking, so they're eating a whole brownie, not realizing they're only supposed to eat one-eighth of that brownie.

patients who have overdosed on cannabis often present as agitated, with rapid breathing, high heart rates and elevated blood pressure.

They have, often, symptoms like anxiety. It can progress to paranoia and actually frank psychosis, where they become detached from reality.

Depending on the severity of the case, he said patients can spend up to 20 hours in the ER coming down from the unintentional high.

We saved a kid's life once, from booze. Poor education it was. Kid was tiny, about 14, chugged a mickey trying to be cool, and passed out in a snowbank in -40. Not a popular kid, so 'friends' at the party planned to just leave her there. Our daughter wasn't hammered enough, and still had some wits about her and called us. After hearing what she had done, we drove her straight to Emergency. They called the parents, and pumped her stomach. Parent was mad at us of course.

So education is key. I can see how strong edibles could be rather dangerous. Not sure if you can actually OD on it though. May have been laced with something else.

Booze and cold weather takes a few lives every year.

My personal opinion is to limit production to a pill or capsule. My kids hate taking pills. But they love brownies, cookies, and gummy bears.

A friend of mine gobbled some brownies for breakfast one time. he was a radio disc jockey. Went to work, but eventually had to call in sick after a few gibbled announcements. So yes, people really need to take care. Not suitable for children ... at all.

My daughter who was 19 at the time, got ahold of some edibles and like you said, she ate too much and started vomiting.

...That was a hard lesson learned. Needless to say, she was in big trouble after coming clean as to why she was so sick and intoxicated.

Is there a religious aspect?
In the Bible the Holy Annointing oil Exodus 30:23-25 has cannabis in it (kaneh bosem); which is the etymology of the word cannabis.

Christ and his disciples healed with it Mark 6:13, and the early church new it healed, thus why they were called Christians (James 5:14).

In Zoroastrian texts there is a plant called Haoma which is a reed based plant with aromatic flowers - which caused them to write prophetic poetry the same.

In Hindu texts we have Soma which again helped cause the Rishi to connect with the divine, and write spiritual poetry.

Buddha had Bhang, which is cannabis leaves crushed with coconut milk to make a drink.

Muhammad told us we will sit on couches, drinking ginger (zanjabil) and cannabis tea (kafur).

Thus many of the religions wouldn't really have existed without the help of cannabis.

In my opinion. :innocent:

An intoxicant, intoxicates in someway; in other words it poisons us to cause an affect.

To have balanced cannabinoids, we require a full range of omega oils for regulated mindfulness.

Cannabis is deemed Holy according to my understanding of the religious texts; thus deeming something illegal, that should be regal, is part of the problem with spirituality globally. :(

We have a malnutrition crisis, which hemp could easily fix, and mankind is heading for WW£$ as people need to chill...

Hemp would also solve the oil problem, and was the original fuel Henry Ford developed cars to run on.

We can google it.
