Scared, gullible, unwise, lonely people,
Another word for that is the vulnerable. These are hucksters who prey upon the vulnerable. Same as the so-call psychics who claim to get messages from the bereaved deceased loved ones, when they are clearly just scamming them. And we celebrate them culturally. Predators and prey.

It's sad. To prey on the vulnerable is really low. There was a scammer here in my city doing psychic readings. Some of the more illiterate older half Hindu half tribal folks from places like Fiji or South Africa are particularly vulnerable in the Hindu community. He was leaving his business cards and flyers at some of the temples and in some of the stores. Just a phone number to call. The trick was to get people to part with some gold so he could 'sleep on it' to get a better vibration. Course then he'd disappear and the'd be too embarrassed to call the cops, and be looked down upon for being so stupid.

The police came by the temple I go to one day, and asked us to keep a lookout. He told me the guy (or a couple) moved around from city to city, staying a month or so in each place, getting one or two larger payouts then moving on. We tossed all the flyers and spread the word as much as we could. I hoped he'd come by on a crowded day so I could get a license plate.

Scum of the earth.

  1. received the following from an email.. I don't follow him. Is this true?

  2. In a message recorded in 1979 Hal Lindsey made the following predictions …
  3. *Lindsey predicts a limited nuclear war before 1984 and an all out world war before 1989
  4. *Lindsey predicts that the world will run out of all raw materials before 1986
  5. *Lindsey predicts that the “Jupiter Effect” will occur in 1982 and at that time dams will burst and nuclear power plants will have major melt downs
  6. *Lindsey predicts that the European Union will be the most powerful entity in the world by the mid 1980’s
  7. *Lindsey announces that the Antichrist is alive and well in Europe as he is making this speech and will soon make his appearance
  8. *Lindsey predicts the murder of all Mormons
  9. *Lindsey says that by the end of the 1980’s the Arab nations will have a complete strangle hold on America and dominate the wealth of the U.S.
  10. *Lindsey predicts that Russia will invade Jerusalem in the 1980’s and that the U.S. will be powerless to do anything about it.
  11. *Lindsey announces to the people of his audience that the rapture will occur in their lifetime.
  12. According to Hal Lindsey all of these predictions are based on “Clear Bible prophecies”.

Definitely sounds like it. Although you can't really pin down timelines for predictions, it sounds like the bulk of this is mainly just to get attention. Or to spread hysteria

-Nuclear war didn't happen. Nor did a world war. One could happen maybe, but that's a matter that's preventable
-That cannot happen. Raw materials also includes RENEWABLE materials like leather and lumber and even water, which only will happen if the Earth becomes completely desolate. If that ever were to happen, humans would die within days.
-Yeah right
-The EU is pretty powerful. But the timeframe is off
-(Let's get back to this. But this is proof he's not a real prophet)
-Ummm why again? These are goofballs out in Utah. And all of them? It's pretty difficult to find and kill an entire religion
-2019, and we do have about two Arab politicians, but actually Arabs are running out of oil money. That's part of why they're so aggressive, they're losing power.
-Why will they be powerless? These "prophecies" unlike even simple predictions don't have a sense of logic to them
-(As before. We're gonna hold off until the last one)
-Are they now?

Because the Bible doesn't mention the Antichrist, it mentions antichrists. That is, there's going to be a bunch of people who persecute Christians. Sound familiar? It should. Today, Christians for having strong opinions are being accused of "hate" because they don't accept the "love" that is globalism.
Anti-Christian Persecution is Gaining Strength in Ireland and Great Britain
Gays Officially Begin Their Persecution of Christians
Muslim Persecution of Christians
That he falsely claims there will be one central Antichrist is a false tradition and a false prophecy. All who are against Christians are antichrists, that is the definition, not some demonic thingy. Just a simple, they are persecuting Christians.

The Rapture is a false teaching.
Matthew 13:24-30 ...'Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; [NO] lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.'

Matthew 13:38-40 ...'The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.'

The Rapture states that Christians will somehow get swept up before the end of the world. But this is not how the Bible describes it. The Bible instead describes something closer to "all Christians will be killed off on Earth and the non-Christians will be left hanging around on Earth. What's left of it." So, we have another clearly wrong doctrine. But yeah, Clear Bible prophecies.

I agree with you and appreciate your detailed response, but the ONLY place in scripture that mentions antichrists is John and he identifies them very specifically.

Well.. that term bothers me a lot.. There were schools for prophets in Israel.. and the meaning of prophet isn't fortune teller or future teller.
Just curious, if the meaning of "prophet" isn't fortune teller or future teller, and if Jesus spoke as highly as He did of the prophets, what is it about the term that bothers you?

P.S. I just noticed that the two of us are both women in our 70s. Nice! We need a few more "older and wiser" people around here. ;)

That's right according to Hal Lindsey, which makes Hal Lindsey a false prophet.

And how do we know this for sure that anyone who claims to be a Prophet, is a false Prophet

In the bible in the book of Hebrews 1:1-2

1--"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets"

So here we find, God spoke in time pass unto the fathers by the Prophets.

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds"

Now for us in these last days God speaks to us by his Son Christ Jesus.
So this means that God is not sending no more Prophets.
All because God speaks to us by hid Son Christ Jesus what is written in the New testament/scriptures.

Therefore anyone that comes professing to be a Prophet, they are a false Prophet.

All Because God speaks to us thru his Son Christ Jesus in the
New Testament/ Scriptures.

Because MOST people seem to think a prophet is someone who can SEE the future.
