Can Christian Preaching Get Any Worse than This?

The sad thing about it to me is that he speaks the truth about the moral deoravity to which society has sunk.

You mean Robertson's claim that homosexuals are responsible for hurricanes and tsunamis ?

He's a Dominionist..

Dominion theology (also known as dominionism) is a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians based on their personal understandings of biblical law.

Dominionists celebrate Christian nationalism, in that they believe that the United States once was, and should once again be, a Christian nation.

Pat Robertson claims Masonic conspiracies are out to destroy Christianity and thwart Christian rule. Throughout The New World Order Robertson refers to freemasonry as a Satanic conspiracy, along with the New Age movement.

The distortion of reality that can follow from such views is well represented by Robertson's assertion that former Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter, and George Bush are unwitting agents of Satan because they supported international groups of nations such as the United Nations.

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
It won't be all that long before people look back on this sort of preaching the same way we currently look back on the sort of preaching that justified slavery, Jim Crow, and bans on interracial marriage.

The main difference is that most/all of today's bigots are on video.

I doubt this kind of preaching will go away any time soon.

While certain aspects of dispensational theology have been present throughout church history, the system of dispensational theology was not formalized until John Nelson Darby began teaching it in the mid-1800s.

Dispensational theology first became popular in the days of Cyrus Scofield with the publication of the Scofield Reference Bible in the early 1900s.

The better part of wisdom says that, if someone is the first person in 2,000 years of church history to think of something, it should be seriously questioned.

After all, if it is a true and important doctrine, surely God would have revealed it to someone much earlier in church history.

Does the fact that dispensational theology is a recent development argue against its legitimacy?

This is sooo sad.
My suggestion is that perhaps good ol' Pat be put out to pasture.

Leave humans alone to get on with their nuances: live and let live is my motto. We are all deviants with respect to each other in some way or the other. What is so important about sexual conduct. Why bother to think of the future of mankind or one's society or the planet as long as one is having a happy and contented life oneself.

And what am I?

You can call yourself what you want or nothing at all, but by your responses you are obviously a foam at the mouth militant atheist. You can piddle about variations in the term atheist, which is a stupid misnomer by definition anyway, but that's what you are.

You tried to accuse me of being biased by only including gay men into my health concerns regarding anal sex. But that's your bigotry against me... Because this thread has nothing at all to do with heterosexual couples. It's all about homosexuality.

...You're just saying that because I have a religion you hate.
Now that is the biggest leap I have seen all year....

You like those terms don't you. Straw man. Non sequitur.
I can't help but wonder why you would rather spend your time whining about the accurate usage of the terms instead of learning how to avoid them being accurate.

So in other words, if anyone says anything that you either disagree with or don't understand, they must not only be an atheist but a militant atheist.

That's adorable.

Well, to be sure: Robertson is doing more to promote atheism than many atheists could ever do.

His seething hate, his massive ego, his pure sell-out to Big Corp and the GOP?

Helps show the world that being a Genuine Christian™ apparently does not require a single iota of either empathy or morals.

I remember Mom talking about the consternation in
Hong Kong, hearing that the Americans might
elect for a president a man who claimed to be
able to get god to re route a hurricane.
