Technology Foretold in the Bible

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the subject, do you think the technology of today was foretold in the Bible?

At minute 1:34 they quote "...prophet Daniel....many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase...." They make two other references in the vid something in Revelation about a world system of commerce and something about the gospel being preached throughout the world before the end.

All of these were done a long, long time ago. There was a world system of commerce multiple times. Knowledge greatly increased, then it flagged, then it increased, then it flagged. Also the gospel, according to Mark 16, was preached to all nations.

These people making this video are no different from what I can see from Tim Lahaye who sold many books but did no one any good, although he said that there would be a one-world government not merely a world system of commerce -- probably because he knew the above about there already being a world system of commerce for a long time. The people making the video are not holier than normal people or more deserving of trust.

I would be more impressed if someone actually used scriptural foretelling in developing of new technology rather than finding resembling patterns in retrospect.

I haven't watched the video, but I've been told of these predictions before.
It's always been about making one retrospective inference from poetic language.
Had technology been different, a different interpretation could've been extracted.

What does the Bible predict about future
technologies....something which could be tested?

I agree with the comment above, any 'prediction' that requires poetic interpretation is HIGHLY suspect.

"I predict that darkness will fall on the unrighteous, and their eyes will be burnt black by the light of the righteous ones!"

Sooner or later someone who could be interpreted to fit this description will suffer something that could be interpreted to fit it, as well. And 'wallah!', we have us a fulfilled prophesy!

What? Me worry?
Motorcycles were prophesied in the Old Testament. Yeah, there's a verse in Samuel that says '...the roar of David's Triumph was heard throughout the land..."

Nice production in the video, but the Bible foretelling technologies is nonsense. The prophecies they refer to are misinterpreted and have nothing to do with technology.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I don't know about all the details of the subject, but if there is to be a one world government, commerce and religion, as the scriptures seem to indicate, then I would think that it could not have happened on a total world wide scale until such a time as the present and/or future where there is the technology in place for global communication/ interaction/ commerce. and possible surveillance and/or control.

Appreciate both your comments.

I don't think the Bible was meant to be a revelation of specific technologies. It is about revealing God, the Creator's interaction with humanity, and an unfolding purpose and plan. Nevertheless, the prophecies which were in reference to future events taking place on a global scale would appear to require the technologies we have now.

I don't think of the Bible or the scriptures as necessarily foretelling technology, but since the Bible does reveal certain events to take place, it seems also that certain technologies must be in place to coincide with the occurrence of those events.

Silly beyond belief.

Sign 2 Travel will increase: No Bible verse given.

Sign 3 Mark of the beast No relevant Bible verse given.

Sign 6 Population explosion.
Revelation 9:16
16 I heard how many troops on horses were in their army. There were 200,000,000.

And on horses no less.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll share the same thought I shared with someone else...

Okay, well what are those? If you say the mark on the hand and forehead are prophecies involving a one world government and electronic marking you don't really have a case. Prostitutes and labor unions in John's day were marked on the hand and forehead. That's where that comes from. It's talking about nationalism.

This is the funniest statement I've read on the forum in months! I'm still laughing. Thanks for that!

Jesus did foretell that the good new message about God's kingdom government would be proclaimed world wide according to Matthew 24:14 and Acts of the Apostles 1:8. This is being done now on an international scale.
I would say the ' new technology ' of our day has helped make possible even rapid Bible translation so that people who live in remote areas of Earth can now have Scripture in their own mother tongue or native languages.
