Patriots owner charged with soliciting prostitutes:

RF's Swedenborgian
Patriots Owner Robert Kraft Charged in Florida Prostitution Investigation

Seriously? A billionaire frequenting a massage parlor? I would think that he could have paid a high class pro. That sort of prostitution seems to be lower middle class.

I've heard, not that I would actually know, there are high end escort services catering to affluent societal members. I see no problem with a non-married man indulging with paid escorts, but married people need to remain faithful to their spouses.

I think he may be a widower. And I agree to a point. He is a member of an organization that enforces "moral behavior" on its employees . He would need to walk the walk too.

He would do it even were he married as the patriots have no issue with cheating.

That said, perhaps prostitution should be legal. I don't think we ought to concern ourselves with consenting sexual relations of famous people unless those relations somehow affect us.

I believe that legalizing, licensing, and regulating prostitution would help combat human trafficking and protect sex workers from being abused and exploited by "pimps".

A job creator! plus he's distributing income among the poor, where it's most needed, rather than squander it on rich escorts.

I don't know why people are slamming the owner....Funny how it's misogyny if we talk about the promiscuity of the many women who day in and out put their legs in the V shape, yet we want to talk about some rich guy trying to get his swerve on. A bit of a double standard.

Prostitution extends to all classes the only way to fix it is to legalize it and regulate it.
Or, as many prostitutes appear to prefer to decriminalize it. The problem with regulated prostitution is that illegal prostitution will still exist and illegal prostitution does create a group of women that are abused.

There is no problem illegal or legal prostitution will exist. Legally with regulation you will minimize the negatives of it. Keeping it illegal just punishes the prostitutes and insures they will remain trapped.

There are several possibilities. It will quite often be refuge for the neediest of women. The problem is that pimping is associated with it and legalization will provide some legal sources but at a price that will still keep the black market going. And a women in the business needs protection. If her protector beats her she cannot go to the law. That is why some advocate decriminalization. In other words it would be widely unregulated, the down side is the possible spread of diseases. The up side is that if a women is forced into prostitution she could go to the police and get a way out.

You and I almost never agree about anything.

So now that we are agreeing I feel the need to point it out.

I get your against legalization but what is your solution while keeping it illegal. It is not going away. How do you intend to protect the women and men in prostitution?

With regulation, you would control the environment for the prostitutes. You could enforce medical regulations. You could enforce training requirements. You could enforce age requirements. You could stiffen penalties for not meeting these regulations. You could use the tax money from prostitution to help prevent it and help prostitutes that want to leave.

I am not saying any of this would be done but it all could be done with regulation. How are you going to help without legality?

We have the porn industry and Strip clubs both legal currently almost everywhere. The porn industry is basically legalized prostitution anyway. Strip clubs tend to lend themselves to prostitution currently. What is your fix?
