The Quran - dress code for women

I already have a pretty strong stance on this and that is that it does not. I understand the dressing code for women comes from the Hadiths. But there are so many Muslims claiming that this is said in the Quran - even official sources - that I am confused. Are they deliberately lying or are they misinterpreting?

If there is someone who thinks it really does say so I would like some detailed explanation of how it says so. Exactly what part. Is it shown in any translation etc.

Also it is said the Sharia law must follow the Quran. The Quran says one cannot make something forbitten and say it is God's word - this is a great sin. But the Sharia law in many countries does require women to cover themselves on a certain way.

I am very interested in this too. Thank you for posing the question.

It would be interesting to know the actual reasons for this dress code beyond rumors. I was under the impression that this dress code was for the protection of the men that they should not be tempted with lust.

There is a Hadith which tells that some time Muhammad's wife (I think it was Aisha or was it another one, but wife anyway) entered the room in less clothing and that Muhammad told her something along the lines of "when a woman has reached maturity it is not proper for her to show to a man more of her than this and this" and that he pointed at her face and her hands.

The thing is this hadith is what is called a weak Hadith. As there is no certain evidence for any Hadith (which in arabic simply means a tale, a story, a rumor etc.)The Hadiths are by some scholars been put in order according to how certain they are.

The person who wrote this Hadith didn't ever meet this wife and no one knows to whom the wife may have told this or where the writer may have heard it.

Besides that the Quran says it is complete and the only God's word and it speaks of the dressing of both men and women and mentions nothing of this kind.

"Sharia law"

Is the so-called "Sharia Law" even mentioned in a verse of Quran explicitly?
The dress code of women is no different than Mary or Rebecca had. Right, please?

According to verse 75:19 of the Quran (translations here: al-Qiyamah 75:19 ) the explanation and interpretation of the Quran was separately revealed to Muhammad by God. So there are many verses in the Quran that speak of a very general topic whose details were further revealed to the Prophet by God. According to Shia Islam, this secondary knowledge -which is also the word of God but not part of the Quran- was passed down from the Prophet one by one to all the 12 infallible Shia Imams. You will find many hadiths and narrations that explain in detail the laws and verses of the Quran. This is our belief about Islam and its laws and we do not insist that you fill find everything with all its details in the literal text of the Quran.

The same applies to the laws of hijab. Some parts can be found in the Quran, the rest are explained in detail in the hadith. However, this does not mean the manner of Hijab practiced in different countries or the manner that it is enforced is necessarily in accordance with true Islamic teachings.

Is there a source in Quran to that affect, please?
If yes, please quote the verse with the verses in the context.

I believe it is out of respect of women so that they don't get to harm even accidentally.
