"The Foundation Trilogy" movie coming.

I had to look it up, but the books sound fascinating. I'll definitely have to get to the library to check those books out.
(Somethings tells me that a book-to-movie that involves prophecy derived from mathematics is going to be especially bad remaining true to the books to cater to a largely arithmophobic audience).

I liked the humor, scale, futurism & characters in the books,
so I dread its being made into a movie. Ever since Catch 22
was bastardized into a movie, I'm easily triggered.
Bonfire Of The Vanities got me too.
Other fears of possible movies....
Shibumi
Stranger In A Strange Land.
A Man In Full
The Sirens Of Titan

Honestly, it was amongst my least favorite sci-fi. And I was a serious sci-fi nerd.
But the trilogy was a bit ponderous. And the premise of mathematical predictions of human behavior, centuries out, strained my credulousness. Even when I was 10 years old I knew humans were too complex for that.

Centuries out, perhaps. But Wall Street does show us we are getting better at predicting trends and future behaviors (especially when it comes to manipulating them), which are essentially mathematically based.
But of course all it takes is one unforeseen and significant natural or man-made disaster and the entire prophesy is void, and their efforts to reduce the negative impact of the future will have been for naught as an entire new event unfolds, sending people and resources to places that weren't anticipated. That could send off that proverbial "one person" who then is located to place that nourishes a drive to cause events to avert the entire second dark age thing (something I thought a bit odd since "dark ages" isn't really a term that historians tend to use or officially describe the Medieval Era with, because it tends to draw up all sorts of inaccurate assumptions of how people lived then and their intelligence).

Too vast in scope to translate into a movie.
Aye, it should be a mini-series...like GOT.
But not a series which eventually wallows in soap opera....like STDS9.

We live in the true golden age of TV, when series (some) are better than movies.

Wait, GOT is a miniseries?!?! :eek:o_O:eek:o_O:oops::confused:
It certainly doesn't feel like it.
I consider it one because it's building up towards a conclusion.
Although "mini" it definitely is not.

The typical series just drags on & on until it dies a ratings death.
I credit Seinfeld for quitting while on top.
Hey, SNL, are you listening?
