There actually is no "trust fund" as this name would describe.
One thing it would mean is that money is held in trust for someone.
But there is only a liability to the someone, & that liability is subject to conditions.
Government can revoke entitlement to SS payments (per SCOTUS).
With no money being held, there is no "fund".
You're collecting almost double what I get.I cannot speak for anyone else but I am getting $2,067.00 a month from SS. This pays my mortgage and a few of my other monthly bills. If it wasn’t for SS I would have lost my home and no telling what would have come of me. Maybe I would be holding a sign at a street corner asking for help?

I started immediately upon eligibility (62).I started collecting SS when I turned 67. If you start earlier you get less. And might I add, when I first enrolled for SS they sent me a check for $14,000 in back pay then the monthly payments

BTW I am still working and I continue to pay into SS from my paycheck.
I also add that I am paying income tax on my ss earnings which in one word (SUCKS)!!!!
