There actually is no "trust fund" as this name would describe.
One thing it would mean is that money is held in trust for someone.
But there is only a liability to the someone, & that liability is subject to conditions.
Government can revoke entitlement to SS payments (per SCOTUS).
With no money being held, there is no "fund".

It (Congress) can also modify the laws regarding funding. Considering there is a growing issue of payment into and benefits paid out Congress will need to authorizing increased funding outside SS payments. Congress has been raiding the "trust" fund for years. It does not exist, it is in bonds created by the US treasury.

I cannot speak for anyone else but I am getting $2,067.00 a month from SS. This pays my mortgage and a few of my other monthly bills. If it wasn’t for SS I would have lost my home and no telling what would have come of me. Maybe I would be holding a sign at a street corner asking for help?

You are welcome to badmouth SS but when you turn 67 your tune will change.

A SUMMARY OF THE 2018 ANNUAL SOCIAL SECURITYAND MEDICARE TRUST FUND REPORTS. In 2017, Social Security's reserves increased by $44 billion to reach $2.9 trillion by the year's end. ... The projected depletion date for the combined OASDI funds 1 remains 2034, as reported last year.

You're collecting almost double what I get.
So if you feel guilty about getting too much,
you know where to send it.

I started collecting SS when I turned 67. If you start earlier you get less. And might I add, when I first enrolled for SS they sent me a check for $14,000 in back pay then the monthly payments

I started immediately upon eligibility (62).

I believe prescription drug costs is the real rip off to us consumers.

I hope the House looks into this and forces more competition to drive down costs and look into reasons doctor's prescribe some medications that are not needed.
