In ps 86:13 what are the depths the person in ps 86:13 is referring to?

Go back one verse puts it in context.

New International Version
"12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead."

I see this would be from self.

Love of God is nearness = Life

Remoteness from God = Death, Hell.

Sheol. My favorite Bible gives the following scriptural references. Job 33:28 / Psalms 56:13 / Psalms 116:8.

Hmmm. I wonder if @Nakosis meant a figurative interpretation of depths rather than Sheol . . .

The Psalm starts out talking about how he is poor and needy. Jesus sermon alludes to this in Matthew 5. Its similar in character to Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." I think its a way of saying he has been re-created, renewed, refreshed. He has been created again.
