Okay, in the last 50 years show us forced conversions by missionaries. And I don't mean Catholics.

Would you consider it coercion of
children were lured to having sex
with adults?

I mean, they might be offered a heavenly
reward, if they go along quietly.

Besides, kids instinctively trust their
parents, however abusive they are.
It is easy to coerce them into belief
in whatever "religion" the parents
foist on them.

What bizarre cult does this?

I did not say any does.

There was a question.
Would you consider it coercion?

How is it not coercion to foist
ANY religion on an innocent
child?
Well how can you foist atheism on a child without it being coercion? What if God is real? Then what damage is being done?

It's been this way forever that parents have the right to teach their children their own religion or their own lack of religion. I don't believe it should change. We can't trust the government to teach our kids. Look what Hitler did with the Hitler Youth.

Now that we've come up against Godwin's
law, I guess we are done.

Muslims are almost rabidly anti-gay so that wouldn't get him into trouble. The VAST majority would not disapprove of such a message unless he railed against polygamy.
You can get fined for hate speech against LGBT in Turkey. The majority in that country is not large as it is in some countries.

I would be willing to be that that law has not been dusted off too many times. At best, its an appeasement to the EU rather than being an organic change in Turkish society. We used to have a flamboyant gay Turk on RF. I'd love to hear his take on this. I doubt he would be patting the Erdogan Administration on the back.

Support and tolerance for LGBT isn't low there though, comparing to some countries in the neighborhood.

I absolutely believe atheist parents can be as coercive as religious parents. When I was growing up my parents worked hard to mitigate this by taking us to several churches of several faiths both Christian and non Christian, and did not discuss their own faith with us. From their view religion should be personal and personally come to through personal research. I think that's far wiser than bringing up children into your own view. Whatever that view may be.

Any country that denies press freedom and locks up the opposition on trumped up charges is not 'modernised'

Was Germany “modernized” when the Nazis took power? Even “modern” countries can violate human rights or commit atrocities.

Do you think modernity is synonymous with being humanitarian?
Certainly heading in that direction; looking after one's people; looking after the planet whilst embracing modern technologies that doesn't conflict with the two aims.
