You need "I don't know" on the poll because that's how I would have voted.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
It does make me wonder how people will survive in the future as AI takes over more and more jobs.

I mean AI is amazing and fascinating stuff. As a gamer I just love the challenge of going against AI. Especially self-learning Ai in the form of bots.

Electronic Arts and Dice actually had a self learning AI playing multiplayer matches in Battlefield 1. It would be awesome to play against bots as I'm a huge single player fan that loves that kind of challenge.

It really does however on a more serious note question on how it's going to affect jobs as our ability as human beings to collect working wages diminishes? It's really going to change the economic landscape of the world I think and raises some really interesting questions on just how are displaced people going to survive. Not everybody is an academic or technologically savvy to comfortably transition.

Will people receive money from the government? Will we turn into a cashless Society?

I mean if most things turn towards AI, how will that affect people overall?

We're hopefully going to evolve into a communist (note the lower case "c") society where the worker no longer has to work to secure basic necessities once robots are better suited to preforming a variety of jobs, as opposed to working the assembly line as they do now. At least, that's what would happen ideally. Realistically, big business will stop that from happening, everyone will be unemployed, and we'll all kill each other. Fun!

AI will replace most human workers because it doesn't have to be perfect—just better than you

Here is what you want to do. You want to invest in buying robots for your kids. They need to learn how to program them, and they need robots that make things at home. At the moment manufacturing and retail are replacing workers. That means the only way for the middle class to survive is to replace manufacturing and retail.

There is an included poll. Votes are hidden.

Why would they stop with just manufacturing and retail? Doctors, lawyers, executives, police officers, military personnel, technicians, tradesmen, managers of every stripe - even judges and politicians could conceivably be replaced.

Someday, we'll have President Uniblab in the White House.

Don't vote for that bucket of bolts. Uniblab panders to special interest groups like Exxon and Sunoco. In fact getting illegal campaign funds from Venezuela's Valero corporate front has been long expected and an investigation is in the works.

Here is the All-American candidate everyone needs to get behind. President Ackerman who has all the experience from an earlier campaign run in 2008.....

Vote for him , if you want to live.

Sounds great, but in the meantime people will be considered extras unless families get smart. One could look at a new industrial revolution as a culling. Unless extended families start pulling together and families unite we will be looking a lot less happiness in the world. We must adapt or die.

Someone say John Connor? Mr. Anderson?
No. I'm just trying to be practical about the real changes coming to employment. Human workers are already being replaced by robots, and the trend is likely to continue until individuals will not be hired unless they own or can program robots. I am not talking about mad robots fighting to kill humanity. I'm talking about the value of a human worker plummeting until every employment position is non-profit.

It was a joke but also serious. This does sound like it could develope into a real problem. it seems to me we need to reject these robots and boycott companies that use them for the sake of all those workers loosing jobs and will be loosing jobs. These robots might not be trying to kill us but the companies using them are by replacing us.

Well there's always a flashpoint. I wonder how far we are from that now before people say enough is enough?

How will investing in robots help?

Would boycotts change the eventuality? Unions might, but we don't have strong unions, and unions are controversial.

Its about becoming self sufficient at the family level. Once upon a time before the industrial revolution, families made everything. Take the robots which will replace workers and also use them for self sufficiency, again. See the disaster coming and take measures to prepare.

The economy works like a rain cycle. The flow is what keeps people able to buy and sell. It depends upon the flow of goods and money which depends directly upon employment. Despite this, businesses tend to build structure (like monopoly power) which takes takes some of that flow away. Taxes take some of it away, too. The flow comes from income and depends upon the size of the economy relative to its population. A growing population can have a growing economy, which allows for more of that flow just like a large tree can hold a lot of sap With robot workers there is less overall income, and so the economy must shrink. Unfortunately economies don't shrink nicely. Therefore families will be in need of ways to obtain goods without paying. They will become islands and shoots cut off from the tree. They will need an alternative to amazon and walmart. The entire economy must revert back to the family centered way that it used to work where families produced goods. Families should therefore prepare to be self sufficient.

I definitely agree that AI is going to change the economic aspects in the world drastically, but that would happen anyway. Even without AI (however, its influence is more powerful that anything else).
As for the jobs and other stuff, I do believe that there will never be a generated consciousness (or a copied one like in that Chappie sci-fi movie). The process of creating a human consciousness seems to me like perceiving something limitless.

.That spurs me to ask people what they think robots can accomplish for the human world. I'm going to start a thread about it.

They're already allowing us to blow up other people without putting ourselves at risk.
That has impacted on foreign policy and the perception of foreign policy.
