What do Trump protesters accomplish?

I visited Capitol Hill last night. There was a crowd of people on the steps chanting anti Trump rhetoric, and each taking turns giving speeches about how much they want Trump impeached or even incarcerated.

I just wonder what they accomplished by doing that. I mean, they all seemed like they were in agreement that Trump sucks, but it isn't like they had an audience except for myself. So, it didn't appear like they had any potential of changing any hearts on the issue.

So, if they all dislike Trump, what good does it do to get together and shout about it?

If there were indifferent people, uninformed audience, or Trump supporters there, I could see that their hope is to change people's opinions or educate people.

But with that not being a factor, what else do they accomplish?

It was also freezing cold and snowing here, so they certainly were making a Sacrifice by standing outside in the cold.

I saw a big anti-trump parade in Minneapolis, and can see how that has potential to change a heart or inform somebody.

But standing out in the cold at night when nobody else is really visiting cept for me, venting to a bunch of people that agree with you, doesn't seem has much if any potential imo.

I guess venting can at least make a person feel better. Perhaps they feel safer in numbers as well.

That's a very good question. When people are uninformed about an issue, a march or demonstration can serve to bring it to people's attention and hopefully get them interested. But in the case of Trump, anyone who does not know the issues either does not want to know or has a good case of confirmation bias. So the only purpose could be to put pressure on those in political office and that takes a truly massive demonstration.

The current small protests don't seem to me to be accomplishing anything.

Most of them are being paid so they have to be there for x amount of time...just sayin'.

About as much as they do by voting, collecting signatures, or writing congresspersons. What does anybody accomplish by participating in such matters?
Voting and collecting signatures does make a difference even if it's a small way. Imagine the difference that would make if everybody voted.

Protesting when there is no audience or opponents just seems to accomplish nothing other than venting frustration.

You won't know if there's no audience or opponents until you get there. Most protests, once large enough, will garner at least some kind of local coverage. Thereby getting one's message out to an audience.

Trump protesters are losers who don't care about their own personal accomplishments; so then, they'd rather get attention with their mob mentality rather than accomplishing anything at a legitimate job.

Trump protesters are communist low life dirt bags and they're very bad hombres. ANTIFA has just recently vandalized the home of Fox News contributor Carlson Tucker.

Hey look, it's that car belonging to the Nazi who intentionally drove into a crowd of people and actually killed someone.
You blocked that from your memory real well.

I keep hearing this but have yet to see support for it. Do you happen to have some? I would be really interested to see it... also curious where I pick up an application. Getting some money for holding a sign doesn't sound like a terrible gig.

That would be similar to burning a swastika, because Soviet Union had much higher kill count than Hitler and had their death camps and other atrocities that resemble Nazism.

You have to fill out an application at the Trump Russian Collusion Office....

"Patriotmouse" lol. I'll take the justice department over your partisan rag. He's a domestic terrorist Neo-Nazi.

Wikipedia factually states: "The Antifa movement is a conglomeration of left wing autonomous, self-styled anti-fascist militant groups in the United States. The principal feature of antifa groups is their use of direct action. They engage in varied protest tactics, which include digital activism, property damage, physical violence, and harassment against those whom they identify as fascists, racists and right wing extremists. Conflicts are both online and in real life. They tend to be anti-capitalist and they are predominantly far-left and militant left, which includes anarchists, communists and socialists. Their stated focus is on fighting far-right and white supremacist ideologies directly, rather than politically."

There are antifa out there because there are facists, racists and right wing extremists out there. Why do you never ever talk about them?
