Those hardest to love need our love the most

At aa today there was a man who couldn't stop mumbling to himself. He was harshly told to leave. I've seen it happen to him last time he came. It's really sad, if AA rejects him, so does everybody else (most likely.)

It's really sad to see people rejected for something they have no control over. Sometimes the people who need love the most, are the hardest people to love. :(

Loving everyone is pretty ambitious. I'd settle if we all just more or less respected each other.

(see what I did there?? :) )

Sometimes though not loving a person is loving them. Not that case though.

But sometimes you need to turn away from someone tin order to help them see that what they are doing is destructive to both themselves and others around them.

Love is an ideal condition. Respecting people's rights is a step toward being able to love somebody. I think caring about others in general is a good thing. You are not going to always love, but basic care about the welfare of others would make society better. Everything hinges on what is deserved.

I do like the idea of loving people in principle even when you dont feel love for them. Mercy has its limits too. I cant love a murderer. Nor should i.

The guy you mention, i see no crime in his behaviour. Its a small problem, to be ignorant. Who knows what the situation is? Best not to pre judge it.

I wonder about this man......
How old?
Is the mumbling a repetition of phrases?
Is the man demented, or mentally disabled?

I don't think that AA is wrong to try and hold a group together at each meeting. I think it's wrong if Minnesota does not have a free service of medical care for any/all mentally disabled people.

There does seem to be social disdain for the mentally ill in the US, more so than in the UK........ even government docs such as your driving licence requirements treat mental; disability as a pariah, imo.

And so, whilst it is sad to read that an AA meeting asked a mumbling man to leave, it's even sadder that there was no State Body authorised and required to look after this man.
