The Second Coming of Christ

I definitely agree that back in the day a lot didn't believe Jesus was a great messenger but on the return in my beliefs it will be a huge event and the presence will be undeniable. I don't think it will be a thing that anyone will miss.

I agree ' huge ' because Jesus, at the soon coming ' time of separation ' on Earth as per Matthew 25:31-33,37,40
everyone on Earth will know.
Since Jesus' preaching and teaching work did Not cover the whole world then in that sense one could think that Jesus was Not a great messenger, however, Jesus left the 'greatest part' of his message of Matthew 24:14; Acts 1:8 to his modern-day followers to take the good news of God's kingdom of Daniel 2:44 to the whole world.
Today that message is being proclaimed on a vast international scale as never before in history.
That means we are nearing the ' final phase ' of Matthew 24:14, and approaching the ' final signal ' of 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 when ' they ' (powers that be) will be saying, "Peace and Security..." as the precursor to the coming great tribulation of Revelation 7:14 before Jesus, as Prince of Peace, ushers in global Peace on Earth among persons of goodwill.

Maybe you’re right but why did Jesus tell us to watch and pray as He would come like a thief in the night?
Couldn’t ‘every eye shall see Him’ mean spiritual eyes or pure in heart?
There are other passages in the Bible that are symbolical not literal like ‘let the dead bury the dead’. In many Bibles now it says let the spiritually dead bury the physically dead so some terms are not all literal.
Couldn’t the signs of His Second coming be in the same vein?

Good point ^ above ^ because when the resurrected Jesus ascended to Heaven he became unseen by a cloud.
So, in that sense they saw with the mind's eye. And as John 14:19 says the world would see Jesus No more.
So, Jesus' presence, his coming, will be seen with spiritual eyes and the eyes of understanding.
The ' sign ' of Matthew 24:14 is nearing completion being done on a vast international scale today.
That means the next ' sign ' is found at 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 when the powers that be will be saying, "Peace and Security..." but that will prove to be the precursor of the coming ' great tribulation ' of Revelation 7:14 before Jesus, as Prince of Peace, ushers in global Peace on Earth among people of goodwill.

The appearance of a Christ or Holy One is usually accompanied by great unmistakeable signs.
One of the unmistakeable signs of Christ’s return is that knowledge would be increased.
Every person alive today is witness to the skyrocketing of technology and science which has virtually united the planet into a single neighborhood almost overnight whereas tens of past centuries never witnessed the likes of today.
This is one of the signs that a Holy One from God has once again trod the planet and shed His blessings upon us all.

Good point ^ above ^ because besides technology increasing knowledge, so is biblical knowledge or education.
When Daniel 12:4,9 wrote 'knowledge would be increased' that is because people would rove ' to and fro '.
Not just literal roving travel, but traveling by criss-crossing through the pages of Scripture.
Scripture knowledge would grow brighter and brighter with the passing of time as per Proverbs 4:18.
Since the Bible is Not written in ABC order as a dictionary is, then with the help of a comprehensive concordance that puts the Bible in alphabetical order for us so that we can take one subject, or one topic at a time and see the internal harmony among the many Bible writers. That way we can compare the Bible's corresponding or parallel cross-reference verses and passages with each other. That helps in giving us a complete word picture about what we can learn from the Bible.

If it is going to be such a huge event, why does the Jesus say that we should be watching, lest we miss the event?

When a thief breaks into the house at night, he comes in and goes out quietly, such that nobody even notices him... It is only in the morning that the homeowner realizes that he has been there because of the telltale signs he left behind.

Rev 3:2-3 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

Rev 16:15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

Luke 12:39-40 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through. Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Matthew 24:42-44 (KJV) Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Matthew 24:42-44 (TLB)So be prepared, for you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. Just as a man can prevent trouble from thieves by keeping watch for them, so you can avoid trouble by always being ready for my unannounced return.

2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Mark 13:32-37 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Revelation 3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar (Revelation 10:1 - Sandalphon) in the temple of my God, and he will go out from there no more. I will write on him the name of my God (Ahura Mazda, Skanda, Zan, Ozain, etc), and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem (Zion), which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name (Sananda).

In my opinion. :innocent:

Well, my take is from the Quran. Just slightly different than basic Christian belief but ultimately its the same. Regardless I think we will all be ok. :)

What does the Qur'an say? I am more inclined to believe the Qur'an than the Bible as it is far more authentic.

The first and main point to make would be why Jesus is returning. In Islam he is coming to finish the job as Messiah after defeating Dajjal and establish peace on Earth.. and establish Islam as True.

Of course the Messiah would confirm that Islam is a true religion, because it is....

Christians don’t believe that Islam is a true religion. They believe that the Messiah will be Jesus and He will confirm that Christianity is the only true religion...

Jews don’t believe that that Islam is a true religion. They believe that the Messiah will confirm that the Torah is the only true scripture from God and he will restore the Jews back to a position of prominence.

So, both Christians and Jews have something in common; they both believe they are the chosen ones, the favored ones of God, and they both believe that they have the only “true” religions and the only “true” scriptures. Most Christians do not accept any other religions as true. Whereas Jews say that they accept other religions I find this rather hypocritical since they believe they are the only “true religion” of God and the Torah is the only “true scripture” from God.

Baha’is also believe that Jesus is coming to finish the work He started. Jesus was the Herald to the Kingdom of God on earth, and He prepared the way for the future Messiah by spiritualizing humanity.

“Jesus created a power of perceiving God which was new, and in order that it might operate clearly, had to cleanse the spirit of man from all worldly encumbrances. Virtue becomes detachment from the world, sin attachment to it. Jesus demanded this sacrifice — losing the life of the world for the life of the spirit, but He made God so attractive, so joyous, loving, powerful, that the Christian was ready to abandon all for Him, and for Christ Who revealed Him.

Thus the tremendous and fearsome Deity of the Old Testament wins men's hearts in the New. We read of the poor sparrow whose fall was watched by a loving Father, of the flower of the field and the bird of the air, and the tenderest stories that ever have won men's hearts — the prodigal son and the good Samaritan.

A new quality of love now characterizes the Kingdom, a love which united the believers not only with God, but with each other, and even extended to enemies and "them that hate you." "That ye love one another" became the test of Christian discipleship.

The supreme ideal of this love was, as shown in John, the relationship between Christ and the Father, and though revealed in the most simple language and the plainest words, stands as the highest expression of Divine love in scripture.

The result was that Jesus' teachings let loose upon the soul and heart of man a spiritual power such as never had been known in the world before. Historians have said that Jesus' teaching has done more to elevate human nature and civilization than all the laws of legislators and the disquisitions of philosophers combined. By releasing religious energies measured to the needs of the hour and the people, He opened the way to the Kingdom of God in men's hearts. New affections and aspirations, hopes and loyalties were brought into being and the whole moral world was carried into a state of flux.”

Only the Messiah who hasn't studied the Tanakh, and not sent from Heaven, could confirm Islam as a religion is all true.

Like it is hypocrisy for a Baha'i to say that, as the Quran denies manifestations of God, etc...

The Messiah according to the Tanakh is meant to be the Lord (YHVH); so considering the Quran denies the Divine Council, the Lords, and that we shall be called Children of the Most High in the Messianic Age, means Islam doesn't even fit with the Messianic prophecies.

The Messiah according to the Tanakh is meant to be the Lord (YHVH); so considering the Quran denies the Divine Council, the Lords, and that we shall be called Children of the Most High in the Messianic Age, means Islam doesn't even fit with the Messianic prophecies.
The Bible is not the “only” Word of God. God has spoken through other Prophets to other peoples throughout all of time. The followers of all these religions are waiting for a Messiah.

“Each of the world's major religions contains Messianic prophecies.

Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, the Zoroastrian religion and even the Native American religions all foretell the coming of a Promised One. Each of the Founders of these great religions either promised to personally return himself, to send another like himself or in some instances.... the Founder promised to do both.

Christians await the return of Christ and the coming of "another comforter." The Jewish scriptures foretell the coming of "another Prophet" like Moses and the return of Elijah from heaven. Many Moslems await the appearance of Mahdi and Meseeh. Krishna promised to personally return from age to age. Buddha said that he was not the first Buddha ever to appear and that another "supremely enlightened" Buddha was still yet to come. Zoroastrian prophecies foretell the coming of a "World-renovator." Native American prophecies foretell the coming of a bearded white man from the east who will bring teachings which will restore the hoop of unity.

Each religion, in its own way, has foretold the coming of a great 'religion restoring', 'world uniting', 'peace bringing' Messiah.

For centuries, people from all over the world have been hoping and praying that they will be the generation which will witness the appearance of their Promised One. Not many have considered the possibility that these prophecies from the various religions might actually all be foretelling the exact same event.

Members of the Baha'i Faith believe that in the middle of the last century these prophecies actually were fulfilled and that the Promised One truly did appear.

Baha'u'llah, the Prophet founder of the Baha'i Faith, claims to be the Promised One whose coming was explicitly foretold, not only in the Old and the New Testaments.... but also in the prophecies of the Hindu, Buddhist, Zoroastrian, Islamic and other religions.

If Baha'u'llah truly is the Promised One then His appearance is one of the greatest events of human history. Are Baha'u'llah's claim true? How can we know for certain? Just take a look at some of the proofs and prophecies... and then decide for yourself.”

But if people are attached to the older religions, they do not want to know if Baha'u'llah truly is the Promised One, even if it might be true. For Jews that would mean they would have to give up the Messiah they have made in their own image according to how they interpret their scriptures and for Christians it would mean they would have to give up their belief that Jesus is still alive and will return someday. This is absolutely ludicrous. Jesus is not alive in a physical body in heaven because Jesus died on the cross so Jesus did not ascend to heaven on a cloud. Besides that, physical bodies cannot exist in a spiritual world. Jesus is not coming back but people can keep waiting for that if they want to. It does not matter to me, but it will matter to them after they die and realize what they have lost by waiting for something that was never going to happen.

It is their hearts that stand in the way of their minds, the hearts that are attached to what they already believe. Baha’u’llah had something to say about that:

“We have forbidden men to walk after the imaginations of their hearts, that they may be enabled to recognize Him Who is the sovereign Source and Object of all knowledge, and may acknowledge whatsoever He may be pleased to reveal. Witness how they have entangled themselves with their idle fancies and vain imaginations. By My life! They are themselves the victims of what their own hearts have devised, and yet they perceive it not. Vain and profitless is the talk of their lips, and yet they understand not.”
Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 204-205

In some cases it is not people’s hearts that stand in their way of recognizing that the Messiah has already returned, it is their minds, their ego. They think they KNOW unequivocally what Bible scriptures mean. They cannot even imagine that they could be wrong. Ego is ego.

Name me just one amputee who ever had any of his/her missing limbs fully restored?

Because miracles are such that they might still be no miracles, after all. Making a miracle too obviously miraculous might mess around with our free will. So, I would not waste time for obvious miracles to happen, like curing amputees or transferring Mount Sinai to New Jersey. but I would a only pray for miracles that still leave a "little" doubt behind.

The good news is that if we follow this practice, prayers and miracles happen independently from the God you happen to believe in, as the respective believers claim. Probably, it would also work if you start praying to a bottle of milk, or any other thing. But we have no statistics for the latter case.

Makes sense?

Wow. Very neat. How was it introduced to you?
I found out about the Baha’i Faith from my older brother during my first year of college. My brother had all the Baha’i books that had been published at that time so I read all of them. Then I met some Baha’is. Two weeks later I became a Baha’i. Most Baha’is have taken a lot longer to decide, some many years, but I knew right away it was the Truth. I just had to confirm that by reading the books. Probably the reason it was easier for me is because I did not have another religion before I became a Baha’i so I was open-minded and not biased.

Religious tradition is the main reason people discount the Baha’i Faith. What they believe makes them biased and prejudiced so many people do not even bother to look at the Baha’i Faith at all. Many associate it with Islam and think it is a sect of Islam so if they don’t like Muhammad or Islam they discount Baha’i out of hand. There is a lot of prejudice against Muhammad and Islam in the Christian West. Just as with the Baha’i Faith, most people do not even bother to research Islam but rather judge it based upon preconceived ideas. I would like to read the Qur’an but right now my life is extremely stressful and I have very little time.

I was not raised in any religion, nor was my sister and brother. Both my parents were raised as Christians but they dropped out of the Church before we were born. I do not even recall my parents mentioning God when I was growing up, so I never thought about God or religion.

It was my brother who became interested in religion in his early 20s so he researched all the major religions. As I recall, he said he read the Bible five times. Then after he had researched all the other religions, he found out about the Baha’i Faith. After he researched it he became a Baha’i, in 1968. My sister and I became Baha’is in 1970, and my mother became a Baha’i in 1975. She was 60 years old at the time. After that, everyone in my nuclear family were Baha’is. My father had died in 1964, so he never heard of the Baha’i Faith. As I recall my mother telling me he was an atheist.

How about you, how did you become a Muslim? What other languages do you speak besides English?

That's very cool. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story I enjoyed reading it.

I was raised by a Muslim father and a mother who was Jubu (Jewish/Buddhist.) I had a rather unique upbringing lol. I never really identified with any until late teens when I really dug in ans researched for myself. I found peace within Islam and evolved that ever since.

And other than English I speak Arabic and Spanish.
