When I looked up the definition of “Cymbalta” this is what I found--

SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND BEHAVIORS

Antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults in short-term studies. These studies did not show an increase in the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior with antidepressant use in patients over age 24; there was a reduction in risk with antidepressant use in patients aged 65 and older [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS].

In patients of all ages who are started on antidepressant therapy, monitor closely for worsening, and for emergence of suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Advise families and caregivers of the need for close observation and communication with the prescriber [see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS].

Cymbalta (Duloxetine Hcl): Side Effects, Interactions, Warning, Dosage & Uses

What I find funny about this is the fact that I tried to commit suicide by jumping off a second floor balcony. As you can see, it didn't work. Having said that and knowing that my doctor knew about this incident, I now wonder why he subscribed "“Cymbalta”"-?

Antidepressants legally have to have that warning. It's called a "black box warning". That doesn't mean it'll make you suicidal, obviously. Side effects just effect a minority of patients with any drug.

Well, I take an anti-depressant that has a pretty huge warning list, and to be honest I probably am experiencing some of the more minor side effects (my doctor is aware of them). It's not something I can do much about unless I take even more pills to try to fix them, which I don't fancy. I could try taking different medication but it's pretty bothersome in its own way as well.

It's better than the alternative though. Being on a moody roller coaster is scary. When my mood crashes, I can get pretty dark but it gets a LOT worse without the pills.

Every medicine can have side effects and some of them are scary sounding, but it may just be a 0.0001% chance of getting it, they have to tell you about it anyway.

Blame the industry. Antidepressants are supposed to be introduced at the doctor's, not tv. ............................

Similar side effects go with all kind of meds.

Because all antidepressants have the same warning.

In closing, I still take the pills and I add, they work. Or at-least I don't have those tendencies anymore. Maybe its just me changing and the pills have nothing to do with it; who knows, still I take the pills.

Everybody here, I wish you and yours the best.

bye

To answer your question, for over a year.

Now I came back to clarify what I said. I am not taking this pill for depression. I am taking this pill to help stop my crying. Sometimes I cry for no obvious reason. I could be watching a show (movie) on TV and out of the blue I start crying. I can be driving down the street in my car and again, out of the blue I start crying. The purpose for the medication was/is to stop the crying.

I will cry when I see something good/or bad & I will cry; tears running down my cheek for no rime or reason. I have just come to accept it, and move on.

Now that is my story.

btw the bill does not stop the crying but it does help me sleep

Someone who had depression - or other mental conditions- to the point of being incapacitated may have suicidal thoughts but an inability to act on them. As they get better - through drugs or other means - they can go through a period where their suicidal ideation might have improved but not disappeared while they also feel less incapacitated. During this period, the person can still want to kill themselves at times but be more able to do the things they want. They’re on the path to managing their condition, but it’s a risky time where they can need monitoring and help.

Usually it's just the increased anxiety.
