Now, jump forward almost 100 years. In 1933, the Plates of Darius I were discovered in a stone box in a palace in Persia. They dated from about the same time as the earliest Book of Mormon plates. Half of the plates were gold and half were silver. They were very similar in appearance to the plates Joseph Smith had described. Since then, a number of other ancient records have been discovered -- all of them written on metal plates, any many deposited in stone boxes. They are on display at museums throughout the world (Chicago, Tehran, Lima, Rome, and Paris). What is significant is that archaeologists now know that it was common for ancient people in various parts of the world to record their histories and other important information in this way
That is absolutely dumb.
First of all: NO ONE except Mormons gives a crap about these plates.
And you wanna know why? Because they are just plates. They weren't used widely like you suggested.
The so called Etruscan Books are 6 copper plates, with around 50 characters on one side.
Characters. Not sentences or even words.
Nothing even remotely close to that has been found in the Americas.
Well except of course for the Kinderhook Plates.
They were proudly presented and translated by the Mormons.
Completely true they were.
Well then the guys who "found them" came forward, it was just a hoax and the Mormons fell for it.
And suddenly the Plates weren't mentioned in Mormon media anymore.
I wonder why.
Perhaps stop reading only Mormon sources.
As I said in my
Post #19, "The internet brings out the worst in people, and the subject of Mormonism's origins brings out the worst of the worst. I'm trying to save myself from unnecessary frustration these days."
It's not my fault that it is completely made up gibberish.
I know it's unfortunate that the Anthon Transcript exists that is in "Reformed Egyptian".
Complete gibberish.
Like I get it. Smith wanted to be the Mohammed of his time.
But dude at least be smart about it.
