My father had this single question test in the beginning of the term in I can't remember which class but I thought it would be interesting to ask it on here, and am wondering if anyone can get it right. there is a correct answer to this question.

If you mean with "why" that your father asked "why" when you did something (wrong) or failed a class etc.

Then the correct answer is very simple: "You are my father, my first teacher. Best teacher creates best students, so if I am not good that means....". And return the question to him: "Why ?"

When someone would ask me "Why?", then I would remain silent. Anyway, if I know my actions are correct then I feel no need to justify to others [using a "because" reply]

My dad when he was in college 40 years ago this was asked of him on his first day of one of his classes. He ended up getting a 50% because he wrote a 5 page essay on what an answer of why could be with no premise. He told me only one person in the 5 classes he taught answered correctly. I just thought it would be interesting to ask on here.
