"Am I a Christian" parts 9 & 10

Start of Pt 9 & 10

Point #9: On the veracity of Sacred Scriptures

Thank you for placing this one last. The way you worded this: [9] I believe the scriptures are imperfect renditions by people that God uses to instruct us.

Is open to multiple interpretations. I ‘m going to suppose you mean a certain level of distrust in its teachings.

This is not uncommon because while everything in the Bible is True; NOT everything is factual as expressed. Here’s what I mean by this statement.

While the Literary From ought to always be the first assumed translation, it BY NO MEANS is the ONLY literally form utilized. Which is WHY only the CC can give a Full and truthful translation of it. {John 17: 17-20: Mt. 16:18-19: Mt 28:19-20} God’s TRUTHS logically can only be singular per defined issue.

Legal, historical, prophetic, apocalyptic, ancient biographical, epistolary, wisdom, poetic, dramatic are other FORMS found in the bible

The Bible also contains some or all of the following literary forms:

Allegory: A narrative in which literal meaning corresponds clearly and directly to symbolic meaning. The story of the Garden of Eden is often considered to be an allegory.

Biography: The nonfictional story of a person's life. The gospels are regarded as biographies.

Didactic literature: Literature intended to instruct or educate. The Book of Job is an excellent example of didactic literature, as is much of the Book of Proverbs.

Epic: A lengthy narrative that describes the deeds of a heroic figure of national or cultural importance. The Book of Joshua could be regarded as an epic.

Fiction: An invented narrative, as opposed to one that reports true events. Biblical scholars regard the Books of Daniel and Esther as works of fiction.

Historical novel: Scholars designate 2 Maccabees as a historical novel because its author fully intended his audience to understand his fictional narration as based on events that actually occurred and on people who really lived. This book is in the Catholic Old Testament.

Nonfiction: A narrative work that reports true events.

Legend: A story about a heroic figure derived from oral tradition and based partly on fact and partly on fiction. The stories of the early judges and Kings Saul, David and Solomon could be regarded as legends.

Myth: A story about the origins of a culture's beliefs and practices, or of supernatural phenomena, usually derived from oral tradition and set in an imagined supernatural past. Much of the Pentateuch deals with the origins of Hebrew beliefs and practices, set in a supernatural past.

Parable: A short narrative that illustrates a moral by means of allegory. The gospels are well known for their parables. .”

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_are_the_literary_forms_in_the_Bible

Let’s take the first several chapters of Genesis as our example. This book uses a variety of literary forms to teach US its truths. As these early events have no witnesses, its events dates back about four-thousand years; and about 800 years before the first “language” and written things were recorded. … Quote: “The cuneiform script, created in Mesopotamia, present-day Iraq, ca. 3200 BC, was first. It is also the only writing system which can be traced to its earliest prehistoric origin. This antecedent of the cuneiform script was a system of counting and recording goods with clay tokens around 2400 BC” End Quotes. … So one has to understand the various forms used to recall and share the truths of this accounting.

Allegory. Didactic literature, myths, nonfiction, and even history are recounted in the first few chapters of Genesis. So here are some of the key teachings that IMO, are irrefutable and to be believed and accepted.

1 There is One True God

2 God choose to Create {means to make something out of nothing} the Universe

3 Times does not exist for God; everything; past, present and future are always known to God. So it could have taken GOD seven seconds, days, years or centuries to “create the universe”; the amount of time is irrelevant to the gist of the LESSON: God did Create it out of nothing. An interesting point though is the use of the number “seven”. … In the Bible numbers in Jewish Traditions held meaning in addition to those attributed to them in our present understanding. The number “seven” stands for “complete, fulfilled and perfe

4 While God “willed” the Entire Universe into existence Gen. 1: 3.9; but created humanity out of “the slime of the earth; and then BREATHED The Breath of Live into him; giving him a “Living Soul” {Immortal soul}. Gen. 2:6-7

Hence humanity has a unique and exclusive place in the plan of God

5 Adam and Eve are real {though their names could have been Sam and Gloria or whatever}, so a literary style change takes place. Then yet another style is introduced to recount the TEMPTATION.

6 God intended EDEN to be a place of perfect existence; no illness, no death and even no wants. God had provided for every need

7 In creating Adam; God place him in -charge of the garden, entrusted him to protect it and everything that was in it; notably his wife Eve.

8 The snake very likely was not a “snake” but some sort of EVIL Monster unique to the many varied creatures that God had placed there.

9 It is likely that Adam allowed this THING into the garden for FEAR of his own safety; and thus endangering EVE for whom he was responsible.

Haydock Commentary: Gen 2: 9 The tree of life. So called, because it had that quality, that by eating of the fruit of it, man would have been preserved in a constant state of health, vigour, and strength, and would not have died at all. The tree of knowledge. To which the deceitful serpent falsely attributed the power of imparting a superior kind of knowledge beyond that which God was pleased to give. (Challoner) --- Of what species these two wonderful trees were, the learned are not agreed. The tree of knowledge, could not communicate any wisdom to man; but, by eating of its forbidden fruit, Adam dearly purchased the knowledge of evil, to which he was before a stranger. Some say it was the fig-tree, others an apple-tree, Canticle of Canticles viii. 5. But it probably agreed with no species of trees with which we are acquainted, nor was there perhaps any of the same kind in paradise. (Tirinus)

10 The trees were a Life-TEST, which Adam through Eve failed. The Monster is Satan who earlier gave way to his perfect existence as a “good angel” who was not satisfied with his perfect existence and desired to be EXACTLY kike GOD. And this is what he sold to Adam and Eve: Gen. 3: 4-5 “ [4] And the serpent said to the woman: No, you shall not die the death. [5] For God doth know that in what day soever you shall eat thereof, your eyes shall be opened: and you shall be as Gods, knowing good and evil.

11 The MORAL lesson seems to be that God demands total and complete loyalty and obedience to his commands. Commandments, Precepts and Ordinances. Lev. 19:4, 26:3 18: 26 7 Duet. 6:24, Jn. 15:10, Exo. 24:12

12 Then the recounting of the story of Cain and Able seems to show the effects of SIN that had been introduced. This is followed by a lose historical accounting.

So there is TRUTH hidden in some sort of fiction or moral for all humanity. This then is the model definition of the Bible: everything {when rightly understood} is True; but not everything is factual {literal.”}

2 Tim. 3:16-17 [16] All scripture, inspired of God, is profitable to teach, to reprove, to correct, to instruct in justice, [17] That the man of God may be perfect, furnished to every good work.

DOUAY BIBLE EXPLANATION: [16] "All scripture,": Every part of divine scripture is certainly profitable for all these ends. But, if we would have the whole rule of Christian faith and practice, we must not be content with those Scriptures, which Timothy knew from his infancy, that is, with the Old Testament alone: nor yet with the New Testament, without taking along with it the traditions of the apostles, and the interpretation of the church, to which the apostles delivered both the book, and the true meaning of it.

Duet. 8: 3 “ [3] He afflicted thee with want, and gave thee manna for thy food, which neither thou nor thy fathers knew: to shew that not in bread alone doth man live, but in every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God.”

Luke 4: 4 [4] And Jesus answered him: It is written, that Man liveth not by bread alone, but by every word of God.”

My friend, if this were not been proven by history to the absolute and total truth; there would be no Christianity alive today; there would be NO WAY {short of direct Divine knowledge intervention} for anyone to much, much-less all, know what God desires, demands and expects from us. So you’re position of a cafeteria-bible being accepted by God could be Soul endangering. The same hold true for all of the post reformation Protestant bible-alternations; wrong interpretations, and personal understandings. THEY ARE NOT GOD APPROVED; but also culpability is diminished with time, so only God knows what His Judgment will be.

2 Peter 1: [16] For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. [17] For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased," [18] we heard this voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. [19] And we have the prophetic word made more sure. You will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. [20] First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, [21] because no prophecy ever came by the impulse of man, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

21 For prophecy came not by the will of man at any time: but the holy men of God spoke, inspired by the Holy Ghost. End Quotes

Point #10 “AM I A CHRISTIAN”?

No, not in the true definition of the word. NOT if, and so long you insist on some ungranted right to pick and choose what is acceptable to YOU. …God my friend neither seeks nor desires OUR opinions.

I pray you find this information useful; may GOD d=guide our life paths,

Patrick

[QUOTE="Life is brilliant. Beautiful. It enchants us, to the point of obsession.
Some are true to their purpose, though they are but shells, flesh and mind.

While agreeing with your closing statement; I'm unclear as to what specifically it references?

God Bless you,
