Bed bug dog?

So, every few months, someone with a license, brings a dog to sniff my room out.

They say the dog is sniffing for "bed bugs".

Beings that many of the people I live with are drug users, i have to wonder if the dog is trained to sniff out drugs as well.

Do you think the dog is actually sniffing for drugs?

I'm surprised dogs are trained to sniff out bed bugs. Ive had bed bugs before and they don't have any detectable odor until after you squish them.

I'm grateful I don't have such a sensitive sense of smell.

I sometimes eat meals with homeless people who smell like they don't bathe. So, having such a sensitive sniffer sounds like it would make life more difficult:eek:... and destroy my appetite.

But it is quite remarkable that a dog can sniff out bed bugs (or drugs for that matter).

Anyone here ever got paid to train dogs to sniff things out? Sounds like a great job imo.

Interesting that this dog supposedly sniffs out bed bugs, but never sniffed out my Turantulas.

Bed bugs are arachnids, so I'd think they would smell similar to their red-headed step cousins. :p

By the way, spider sh*t don't stink, in case you were wondering. It is one reason they make the best pets imo. :)

Dogs can be trained to smell out anything it seems.
From various contraband to game animals.

Saint Luke's mission of mercy was in an area of Buffalo New york where trash was all over the place and crime, drug-addiction, gang-activity, and prostitution ran rampant.

Where I live now is better, but you still see people sleeping on the concrete, people constantly begging for change, people approach me to sell drugs, or unwanted people knocking on the door or sometimes barging in if the door isn't locked.

And the wheel on my locked up bike got stolen shortly after getting the bike.

So, not the best place to live by any stretch, but there are great places in walking distance and free meals, so can't complain!
