It's a pity that the news media tend to take things that have been going on for ages, and that might continue on for ages more, and only call attention to them in cycles -- in cycles at best.

There's a very good reason that blacks feel themselves the object of racism. Because they are. This is one example of a bunch of recent news stories. The headline speaks for itself.

White man blocks Atlanta doctor from entering her own home

"After police arrived on the scene, the man eventually moved his vehicle. The man, who it turns out did not actually live in the gated community himself, claimed there had been robberies in the area and people had been allegedly stealing A/C units."

Uh, seems like he should have been arrested for trespassing.

I'm a racial minority where I live...ive been antagonized, singled out, and persecuted for my ethnicity...ive been discriminated against for mental illness...I really don't care!

People are scared, suffering, unhappy people with inclinations and impulses that just come to them naturally, and sometimes they don't like my kind.

People will be people.

That kind of stuff happens in the US with regularity? My opinion of the country keeps plummeting.

Friends have told me over the years similar stories, although now is the first time I've seen such nationwide media attention being paid to such things. Progress, I guess --- but I suspect a media fad.

Don't allow your opinion of the "country" entirely ruin your opinion of the people, please.

Years ago, when I was waiting tables, an old Black gentleman came in, sat down in my section. I was new to that job and didn't realize he was in my section. Thought he was in someone else's -- when I finally noticed him.

Hopping mad. So mad I could not explain to him what had gone wrong. Just not listening, but to give him credit, he never raised his voice or cussed. Yet, he was absolutely certain I'd ignored him out of racial prejudice.

Pretty easy to understand how he could jump to the firm conclusion, given what he must have seen in his life.

I guess I could blame him for taking after my butt like he did, on the grounds that anyone should listen first and jump butt later, but then -- how often have I done the same? Especially back in my younger days?

I look forward to the arrival of the Usual Suspects, and how they will explain this single, isolated case from which no larger conclusions may be drawn is not actually an example of racism, and anyway, YOU'RE the real racist for even mentioning it in the first place, and Trump has singlehandedly fixed black unemployment rates, hail Putin!

Don't you know anything about cops?
"Trespassing" is too specific.
"Creating a disturbance" or "breaching the peace" is preferred.

Just seems like if anyone was breaching any of those things, sounds like that dude. Honestly though, seems more like harassment, if anything. But as you know, I'm no lawyer.

Doesn't really sound like a single, isolated case if you are expecting it in advance because it happens so often.

I understand that you may feel that regurgitating something that is perpetual is something that shouldn't be a part of everyday discussion but one of the things that makes people aware I've found both as a researcher and as a person who has experienced racism is that constant awareness is key. What I also find both online and offline is that the discussion of racism is an annoyance to some. The term "white guilt" comes into play when these types of discussions happen.

"Why should I be aware of racism? I have black friends"

Is the ode of the great many!

To answer such comments I look at it like this.....

I was never a Nazi so why am I soused to learn about the Holocaust?

I was never a Turk so why should I learn about the Armenian genocide?

I was never an English pilgrim so why should I learn about the Pilgrims killing the Native Americans with their diseases?

We learn about racism to constantly remind us of our ugly past, and to remind us to never return to a history in which humanity can morph into something so ungodly.

It isn't pity except those that express the behavior, but it is however, important to know these things do exist and those even in the rural areas are made aware this ugliness happens.

Sorry, I did not make my point clear. I was bemoaning the fact that there is not enough -- not nearly enough -- "regurgitation" of these incidents. Instead, I see the media as faddish. Today, they make the news. Tomorrow, the Kardasians, again. If it were up to me, these and so many other stories would be tracked daily or at least weekly until at least something was done about them.

I am quite optimistic.....

After playing a game of World of Warcraft on my off day I was on discord (similar to Ventrilo) and listening to a bunch of white guys actually articulating on a scholarly level breaking down the lyrics of Drake the rapper, and Pusha T (another Rapper). I would have never thought in my life these guys who know nothing about hood life (I asked them if they grew up in the "Hood" in which they denied they did) could break down rap lyrics in such an academic fashion. I look at the multi-cultural turnout of XXXtentacion and how he touched so many people cross-culturally. I see so many people of different cultures contributing to this government such as the progressive Caucasians, Asians, African-Americans, Indians, Native-Americans. The United States that MLK dreamt of will not exist in my life time or yours but it will exist in the future. Hopefully and this is just a shot in the dark, humanity will get to a point where we see each other as members of the same species instead of ethnic groups.

I see. I apologize if I misunderstood you.

If I were to keep playing the role, I'd ask you to find examples of this exact thing happening before. And if you came up with something, I'd find any tiny difference in the cases to claim they're completely unrelated, probably call you a liar into the bargain, and anyway, what about the time *insert irrelevant liberal bashing strawman here*

I was actually taking a swipe at cops, who use
the charges as an excuse to arrest anyone.

From cop behavior I see here, they don't arrest anyone for
trespassing unless the perp refuses to move when ordered.
They could've for creating a disturbance, but consider....
If the problem is resolved & the guy now knows he was wrong,
would you want to haul him away, & face a bunch'o paperwork?
This might be a good example of cops handling things well.
No one was injured.
It's just too bad that bigoted arschlochen walk (or drive) among us.

Conservatives think there's a lot more racism 'hoaxes' than the real thing happening. RW media told them that.
